Founded by esthetician and beauty entrepreneur, Charlotte Cho, Then I Met You abides by an attitude of thoughtfulness that transcends self-care. It's inspired by the Korean concept of 'jeong' - a deep feeling of empathy and affection that one can develop for people, places and things - to go deeper, to focus a little extra effort in the right places, and spark real change to your skin. An invaluable sidekick to the industry-adored {Living Cleansing Balm}, the Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel is the ultimate second cleanse; designed to make quick work of oil-based impurities, this gentle cleanser clarifies your pores and counters breakouts all while flooding your skin with hydrating glycerin and sodium hyaluronate—no one likes their skin to feel stripped.
Following in the footsteps of the iconic Living Cleansing Balm is no small feat but the Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel makes it look easy. A purifying second cleanse, this gentle gel effectively lifts water-based impurities (think: sweat and pollution) to promote clear, glowing skin.
Crafted to have a pH of 6, this soothing formula balances clarifying ingredients with a cocktail of hydrating and nourishing extracts so that your skin feels refreshed but never stripped. Leading the conditioning charge is rice ferment filtrate - an impressive ingredient that lends the blend its abundance of enzymes and amino acids to nourish your skin as it gently clears impurities. It's also infused with green tea (an industry-adored antioxidant) to encourage calm, youthful-looking skin, plus liquorice root extract to promote a more even, luminous tone—get ready to glow! As for its blemish-busting capabilities, it's laced with gluconolactone (a naturally occurring poly hydroxy acid that exfoliates without sensitising the skin) and anti-inflammatory tea tree to clear your pores and prevent pesky breakouts.
For the second step of your double cleanse after rinsing off the Living Cleansing Balm, lather a pea-sized amount using water and wet hands. Then massage into your skin to remove water-based impurities. Rinse thoroughly and gently pat dry.

As there are differences between US and European labelling requirements, you may notice a slight variation amongst ingredient listings on differing sites. Limonene, for example is a compound found in Grapefruit Oil, and the UK requests it to be listed out separately. Then I Met You can assure you that all products boast the same formulations you know and love.

Strange consistency
I didn’t love this which is a shame as I love the Then I Met You cleanser. It’s a strange consistency and hard to get out of the bottle as you begin to run out.Â

Nice
This is a very gentle on the skin cleanser. It leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean that doesn’t make my face tight but it has a weird smell that I can’t get on board with. It’s weird that I like the feeling of it but the tea smell I can’t live with. Worth a try if you’re looking for a gentle cleanser and don’t mind fragrance.Â

Really wanted to love it
I have oily skin but still felt this stripped my skin and felt tight after using! Also stings eyesÂ

Amazing!
Got this on a recommendation and I was not disappointed! Â Only complaint is that I ran out! Â A definite repurchase!

Love this
I've gone through a few pots of the cleansing balm, so I wanted to try this as a second cleanse. My skin loves it! I have very dry/dehydrated skin and after using this my skin feels wonderfully clean, but without any tightness. You only need a pea sized amount and it will generously cover my whole face, so will last for ages.

Big fan!
I am a huge fan of a gel cleansers as well as Korean skincare, so this was a quick easy purchase for me. I love how this feels while using it on the skin as well as washing it off. This is much more of a gel texture cleanser than I have ever used before. Almost had a 'slime' to it when pulling it away from the entry hole. Smells amazing and I am pH obsessed, so this works really well and is lovely on my skin. Something I would definitely repurchase.

Just Ok
I love Korean skincare & wanted to try this as an alternative to my usual Benton one. Overall the product was OK but not better than my favourite. Value for money is not good as I use alot to work up a lather I know it won't last much longer.

Worked wonders
I love this cleanser, I was getting really bad flare ups of my acne-rosacea but after changing my daily routine to just this and moisturiser, my skin has never looked better.

My favourite cleanser
I have dry and sensitive skin. I've tried a lot of (cult favourite) cleansers and a lot of them leave my skin so tight where nothing else seems to hydrate the skin. But this one is probably the only cleanser that doesn't do that! The scent takes a bit of getting used to and the texture is also hard to explain but my skin feels so hydrated after. Absolute holy grail for me - I'm on my 4th bottle of this now!

Not as nice or effective as the balm
I've been using this for a month and if I'm honest, I'm only using it up now to finish it. I had such high hopes for this range because I love, love the balm and am now on my second tub of it. But this cleanser is, as many people have pointed out, really harsh and does not feel gentle at all on the skin. My skin feels itchy and tight after - the complete opposite to how the balm feels after the first cleanse. Not at all pleasant. The gel is a weird, gloopy texture and if you ever accidentally get it near your lips, which is impossible not to when cleansing, it tastes vile. I'm going to finish and then go back to Fresh soy cleanser instead for a second cleanse/morning cleanse or revert to Pai, which generally saves my skin after products like these have damaged it :(
