Earning glowing write-ups from the beauty buffs at Allure, Glamour and Refinery29, not to mention copious awards - you're looking at Caroline Hirons' Choice for 2020 Product of the Year - the Living Cleansing Balm melts away sunscreen, make up and excess sebum to reveal a perfectly refreshed, calm complexion. The supremely sensorial formula has hints of rosemary, persimmon and grapefruit to delight your senses as vitamin E and plant oils feed your face with antioxidants and fatty acids and free it from impurities. It was all so dull, then we met the Living Cleansing Balm...
A staple in the rituals - it transcends the passive act of routine - of beauty editors and skintellectuals alike, Then I Met You's Living Cleansing Balm effortlessly melts away make up, sunscreen and excess sebum while feeding your skin with antioxidants and fatty acids.
The ultimate first cleanse, this sorbet-soft balm is designed to be massaged into skin - pause to appreciate the sensorial notes of rosemary, persimmon and grapefruit - to easily melt away oil-based impurities. It's crafted from a luxurious blend of lightweight plant oils including sea buckthorn oil (adored for its abundance of fatty acids such as stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and omega 6); olive oil (a nourishing antioxidant that boasts anti-inflammatory properties and supports your skin barrier); finally, grapeseed oil (an antioxidant-rich emollient that nourishes as it gently lifts impurities - cue round of applause). It doesn't end with that holy trinity of oils though - it's also laced with persimmon extract to protect your skin from free radicals and promote a brighter tone, plus vitamin E to promote a healthy, youthful finish. We're so glad we met this formula...
For the first step of your double cleanse, use the spatula to scoop a dime-sized amount onto dry skin and gently massage in circular motions. Add a splash of warm water to emulsify and remove oil-based impurities. Rinse thoroughly before moving to step two, a water-based cleanse with the Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel.
Olea Europaea Fruit Oil (Olive), Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil (Grape), Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Peg-8 Isostearate, Cera Microcristallina, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Oil, Ceresin, Synthetic Wax, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Diospyros Kaki Fruit Extract (Persimmon), Aniba Rosaeodora Wood Oil (Rosewood), Citrus Paradisi Peel Oil (Grapefruit), Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil (Rosemary), Tocopheryl Acetate, 1,2-hexanediol, Bis-diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Ethylene/Propylene Copolymer, BHT, Limonene
As there are differences between US and European labelling requirements, you may notice a slight variation amongst ingredient listings on differing sites. Limonene, for example is a compound found in Grapefruit Oil, and the UK requests it to be listed out separately. Then I Met You can assure you that all products boast the same formulation, with the same sorbet soft texture that everyone loves!

Love it!
Smells incredible, great little scoop is super handy, slightly pricey but well worth it!Â
Report this reviewGood
My skin always feels really lovely after using this cleansing balm and it never fails to remove any oil build up on my face. However the actual experience of cleansing you face with it is a little bit hard but the balm feels so lovely on your skin it is fine. However it is really expensive so I am unsure whether I am willing to spend this amount of money on this product.
Report this reviewAbsolutely Fabulous
As the title says this is absolutely fabulous. Wonderful texture, cleanses beautifully and leaves my skin soft and refreshed. I love the Oskia Renaissance cleanser but I think this just has the edge for me.Â
Report this reviewLove this
I love this cleansing balm. You only need a pea sized amount and warm it up in your hands and it spreads into a beautiful citrusy oil/cream that just needs the smallest amount of effort to melt off all makeup and mascara. It doesn't sting your eyes and no film when you wash it off. It leaves your skin feeling soft but clean.
Report this reviewTHE BEST
This cleanser is no question the best cleanser I have used, its super gentle on the skin I feel like I could rub it into my eyes and it wouldn't sting at all (not that I would recommend trying that out...) but it removes my makeup extremely well even on full coverage days. It also seems to help keep my cloths much cleaner - I use microfibre cleansing cloths and they tend to get a lot of foundation build up on them even after washing but since I have been using this cleanser it seems to wash off the cloths a lot easier too. It also lasts forever I have been using for nearly a year now and only on my second pot.
Report this reviewNO BRAINER!
I’m very picky about the cleansers I choose for my skin, but this one glides on so smoothly and feels lovely, soft, and its such a thorough cleanser that really breaks down any makeup on your face! Smells amazing also. An all rounder!
Report this reviewA fantastic cleansing balm
This product is amazing, completely takes everything off, all your make up even waterproof mascara. I just love how it leaves your skin after.Â
Report this reviewIn love
I’ve been using this for months now and I absolutely love it. The smell, the texture, everything. Well everything but the price! It’s worth it though and I wouldn’t go without it. I use this for my first cleanse to remove my make up and products from the day before using a gentle cleanser for my second cleanse. It melts like butter as you rub your hands together and feels so luxurious on your face as you massage it in. I genuinely look forward to doing this every night it’s like a full spa experience. I haven’t tried the gel cleanser they recommend as a follow up to this as my current works so well I’m scared to try and fix something that’s not broken! Definitely recommend this, and it’s something I will continue to use for years to come I’m sure!
