HUDA BEAUTY SHADE GUIDE: FIND YOUR FOUNDATION, CONCEALER AND POWDER MATCH

Finding your shade shouldn’t be the hard part of trying a new base. With dozens of shades across its foundation, concealer and setting powder, Huda Beauty complexion has a match for almost every skin tone, and once you understand how the brand names its shades, finding yours is simple.

Our Huda Beauty shade guide takes you from undertone to shade code to your match in three steps, covering the Easy Blur Foundation, #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Liquid Concealer, #FauxFilter Color Corrector and Easy Bake Loose Powder. New to the brand? Start with our 101 guide to Huda Beauty.

STEP ONE: FIND YOUR UNDERTONE

Your undertone is the colour beneath the surface of your skin, and it stays the same whether you’re tanned or not. It’s the key to a shade that disappears into your skin rather than looking grey, orange or pink. Look at your wrist in natural daylight and run through these checks. For a deeper dive, read our guide on how to determine your skin tone and undertone.

YOU HAVE A COOL UNDERTONE IF:

  • Your skin has a pink, red or rosy tint
  • The veins on your wrist look blue or purple
  • Silver jewellery tends to suit you best

YOU HAVE A WARM UNDERTONE IF:

  • Your skin has a yellow, golden or peachy tint
  • The veins on your wrist look green or olive
  • Gold jewellery suits you best

YOU HAVE A NEUTRAL UNDERTONE IF:

  • Your skin has a mix of tints, or it’s hard to tell
  • The veins on your wrist look blue-green
  • Silver and gold jewellery both suit you

If foundations tend to look a little grey or ashy on you, you may have an olive undertone. Look for neutral or warm shades, and see the Easy Bake shades below that are designed for olive skin.

STEP TWO: UNDERSTAND HUDA BEAUTY SHADE CODES

Every Huda Beauty base shade has a number and a dessert-inspired name. The number tells you the depth, and the letter tells you the undertone. Learn the code once and you can shortlist your shades in seconds.

Easy Blur Foundation: shades run from 100 (lightest) to 600 (deepest). The first digit gives you the depth, and the letter after the number is the undertone. Take 220N Custard: a light shade with a neutral undertone.

  • B or C: cool
  • N: neutral
  • G, W or R: warm (golden, warm or red)

#FauxFilter Concealer: shades run from 1.1 (lightest) to 8.7 (deepest). The first number gives you the depth and the second is a finer step within it, so 2.5G Nougat is a touch deeper than 2.1N Meringue. The letters work in the same way as foundation.

Easy Bake Loose Powder: shades go by name only, and each one is designed for a skin tone and undertone. You’ll find the full breakdown in Step Three.

STEP THREE: FIND YOUR HUDA BEAUTY SHADE

Choose your product, then go to your depth. Shortlist the shades that match your undertone and compare two or three along your jawline.

Best for: under-eyes, dark spots, redness and blemishes

Shades: 28, numbered 1.1–8.7

Which concealer shade should you choose? For blemishes and dark spots, pick the shade closest to your foundation so it blends in seamlessly. To brighten under the eyes, go one step lighter. If you’re working with dark circles or redness, start with the #FauxFilter Color Corrector and apply your concealer on top.

#FAUXFILTER COLOR CORRECTOR SHADES

A creamy colour corrector that cancels out the look of dark circles and discolouration before you apply concealer or foundation. Unlike your base, you choose a corrector by undertone and depth rather than matching your skin exactly: pinks for cool undertones and peaches and oranges for warm undertones, getting deeper as your skin tone does.

Best for: dark circles, dark spots and uneven skin tone

Shades: 8

Apply a thin layer to the areas you want to correct, tap it in with your fingertip or a sponge, then layer your #FauxFilter Concealer on top. A little goes a long way, so build it up slowly.

EASY BAKE LOOSE POWDER SHADES

A finely milled setting powder that blurs, absorbs shine and locks makeup in place. Use it all over to set your base, or press a generous layer under the eyes to bake.

Finish: soft, blurred

Best for: setting, baking and brightening

Shades: 11

Unlike foundation and concealer, Easy Bake shades don’t need to match your skin exactly. Each one is designed to set and subtly brighten a particular skin tone and undertone, grouped into light, medium and rich.

Alongside these, there’s Matcha Milk Cake, a green-tinted powder for fair to medium skin tones. It’s designed to reduce the appearance of redness, so use it where you need it, such as around the nose or on the cheeks, rather than all over.

Can’t decide? ‘Sugar Cookie’ is translucent, so it works across a wide range of skin tones. Want to test a shade first? The Baby Bake Easy Bake Loose Powder Mini lets you try before committing to a full-size tub.

HOW TO PAIR YOUR HUDA BEAUTY SHADES

Your foundation, concealer, colour corrector and powder work best as a team. Once you have your foundation shade, use it to guide the rest:

Foundation: match your skin exactly, along the jawline.

Concealer: match your foundation for blemishes, and go one step lighter for under-eyes.

Colour corrector: choose by undertone, with pink for cool skin and peach or orange for warm skin, and use it only where you need it.

Powder: choose the Easy Bake shade designed for your skin tone and undertone, or ‘Sugar Cookie’ if you want a translucent finish.

Huda Beauty’s own pairings are a handy shortcut. For example, it pairs 300N Latte foundation with ‘Cupcake’, 330N Butter Pecan with ‘Peach Pie’ and 550R Hot Fudge with ‘Cinnamon Bun’. Each concealer shade has a recommended powder too, shown in the concealer charts above. TIPS FOR FINDING YOUR HUDA BEAUTY MATCH

Swatch on your jawline. Your hand and wrist are often a different colour from your face. Swipe two or three shades along your jaw and pick the one that disappears.

Check it in daylight. Bathroom and shop lighting can skew warm or cool, so step outside or stand by a window before you decide.

Give it time to settle. Some foundations develop slightly once they dry down, so wait a few minutes before you judge your match.

Start small. Minis of Easy Bake and #FauxFilter Concealer are an easy way to test a shade. Browse the full line-up of Huda Beauty minis.
