Excellent

A few months ago, I started double-cleansing. As I’d be using Ceramic Slip last, I opted for a moisturising cleanser - the type I’d normally avoid because, whatever the manufacturers say, I’m convinced they leave an oily residue. I chose Bio-Essence Miracle Bio-Water Jelly Make Up Remover - largely because it was cheapish and Cult Beauty founder Alexia Inge had given it it a rave personal review (she’s quite judicious with these). It’s excellent. You massage a transparent blue gel all over your face (including eyes) for a minute or so - more if you’re good at proper finger-massage - and then rinse. It takes off all your eye-makeup, even the waterproof variety, which means you can ditch your usual eye-makeup remover. And it leaves the skin soft, smooth and hydrated. Does it leave a residue? Not that I can detect. But, like practically every other cleanser on the market, it doesn’t really do much to shrink your pores. For that reason, I complete my morning/bedtime wash with a quick massage of Ceramic Slip, avoiding the entire area round my baggy eyes, followed by a thorough rinse.

Gentle beast

I was flabbergasted by the cleanser from first use - even on the odd intoxicated evening when I've sloppily rubbed half of it into my eye or somehow managed to drop it down the drain - every tiny trace of dirt/makeup/pollution on my face has literally melted off with minimal effort and most importantly, without the tiniest irritation.

Good option if you use lash-extensions!

Since I began using lash-extensions, I am always on the lookout for good make up removers that are oil-free without leaving my dry skin stripped of its so needed moisture... (For those wondering, using cleansers or eye creams containing oils or fats dissolves the glue that is used for the extensions). This one is a pretty good option, I find. It dissolves my make up fairly well, (sometimes I need to go over my skin a second time to get all traces of foundation and eye make up off). But it has not yet affected my fake lashes one bit, which is great! It does leave my skin feeling slightly dry after rinsing, but not in a way that forces me to up the amp with extra moisturising afterwards. I have only used it now for about a week, so I can't say if it may prove itself too drying for my skin in the long run, but so far so good. I personally find there is a difference in whether a cleanser manages to protect the skins barrier or if it just makes you feel as if it does by leaving a bit of moisturising residue from the cleanser itself which I find is often the case with cleansing balms for instance. This leaves no residue whatsoever and is easily rinsed off with no need for muslin cloths or excessive rinsing which I find can both be irritating and drying in the long run. I gather this is an excellent cleanser for oilier or normal skin types. But so far, not too shabby for my dry skin either, and definitely one of the few that works well with my eyelashes!

Not for me

Does not remove my make up that well. I love the smell, but also goes very quickly.

Smells lovely and does a good job of getting off face makeup, lipstick and eyeshadow. Although, I stick to the Oskia Renaissance Cleanser for the latter and the claims that this Bioessence removes "every trace" of mascara, even waterproof, is completely untrue. Had to use a different eye make-up remover to get rid of my mascara (which was in tiny flakes stuck to my eyelashes after using this product which also literally pulled my eyelashes out because this remover would not work). I use waterproof mascara on an everyday basis to hold the curl of my eyelashes and have never had an issue of taking it off before. Bioderma and Garnier's Micellar water always work for me but this did not. Extremely disappointed £16 later.

Really love it - the hype is true!

I decided to try this after seeing it reviewed in a magazine. I always have a faint remainder of mascara the next morning no matter how carefully I remove it at night but not with this. This product really does clean away every scrap of my (non-waterproof) mascara and other makeup with nothing left in the morning. It is lovely to use if you like a wash-off cleanser. This product is also NOT tested on animals which is very important to me.

Once one has mastered the technique...

It is rare that EVERYONE at Cult Beauty towers resoundingly agrees on a product. We have very high standards and the luck to have experienced the best that science and nature can supply. There was a flutter of excitement when the Miracle Jelly samples arrived. Could this be better than the ultimate backstage cult Bioderma? I had to try it. I'm a cleansing balm kinda girl and usually take off my make up with an oil/water cleanser and cotton pad before heading to the sink to steam my face. This didn't work so well with this jelly, there was still mascara left. Then I read the instructions...derr... you'd think I'd learn! Straight from fingers to eye area, a few gentle circular movements loosens all my eye make up, then it washes down the drain. For 'nights out' make up I need to repeat to get the last of the shadows. I've got it in my eye and it doesn't sting, it smells fresh and I love the pump dispenser for when you don't have enough hands - you can completely control the amount you get.

Love at first sight

I ordered this product a few days after it's launch on CB. I prefer water-based removers and especially stay away from oil based eye makeup removers. I was on the look out for a good make up remover (I'm a fan of Bioderma.. but still) and let me tell you this jelly remover is amazing! It melts away everything from the first wipe. After this I used a cotton pad with toner just to test it and I didn't have any traces of make up in my face which is so rare with removers. Same goes for eyes, its gentle but still doing its job, mascara just melts away. LOVING it, definitely a favorite.

OBSESSED

I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a product launching. As a long-time Bioderma devotee, I didn’t think I would ever find a make up remover (or first step cleanser) that beat it, but this has surpassed everything I’ve used before. The jelly-like formula glides over skin, and after a few seconds of gently massaging it in and then wiping it away with a cotton pad or muslin cloth, it rinses off EVERY last trace of make up. (Literally everything) It’s so gentle that it doesn’t pull at the fragile eye area or make my eyes sore, and leaves my skin feeling super soft and nourished, as if it had just been moisturised. I’m OBSESSED.
