Stripping back unnecessary packaging and misleading ingredients, The Ordinary offers an abundance of brilliant, high-performing products at surprisingly affordable prices. Offering a better stability profile than any known direct-acting form of vitamin C, this high potency, water-free formulation is an exceptionally stable way to harness the brightening benefits of this hero ingredient. Evening out skin tone and boosting radiance and the appearance of health, this provides visible results – fast.
Vitamin C derivatives are renowned for their skin-brightening, tone-evening abilities – but they’re notoriously difficult to keep stable. This exceptionally stable solution is water-free and features an ‘ethylated’ (a science-y term for a compound in which the hydrogen of an alcohol is replaced by a metallic atom, usually sodium or potassium) form of ascorbic acid, which acts directly like vitamin C, allowing for faster, more visible results and a much better stability profile than any known direct-acting form of vitamin C. Boosting skin’s radiance and appearance of healthy, The Ordinary’s Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution will brighten your skin and even out its tone, minimising the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation. The Ordinary offers a host of vitamin C-based products to brighten skin – opt for this one if you’re looking for a ‘high’ potency option and a ‘light oil’ texture.
Apply a few drops to face AM and PM.

Extra Ordinary
The Ordinary Ethylated Ascorbic Acid is the best vitamin C product I’ve ever used. The only one that doesn’t leave “crumbs” on your skin. I find it excellent for my very mature skin. It also helped my 14 year old grandson’s spotty forehead. Buffet is the best serum ever, a buffet of nourishment for the skin. Both delivered promptly and free p&p by Cult Beauty.
Report this reviewWorks for me
After ruining my skin on a home microdermabrasion exfoliator 6 years ago I’ve thrown everything at it to try and reduce the hyperpigmentation I’ve been left with. I’ve used lots of Ordinary products and still do. I’m halfway through my 1st bottle of this and you can definitely see the difference in my skin. I don’t think it will ever go away fully but how it has helped reduce it and given my skin a healthy glow I’m so happy with. I’ve spent £1,000’s on prescriptions and nonsurgical treatments to tackle this. Using this in the AM, retinol in the PM alongside the buffet and rosehip oil all from the ordinary works a treat for me - I’m 41 and my skin does not look 41 (so I’ve been told).
Report this reviewSoooo good
Feels great on the skin, takes a while to absorb but well worth. Only for PM use! Well done Ordinary.
Report this reviewBest vitamin C on the market
The best vit C. My skin got better after a few days - scarring and pigmentation. Love it.
Report this reviewCurious
I can't say why, I normally use products containing propanediol and they feel just fine, but with this one, I'm still not sure. I have it for a year or so and still haven't figured out how to properly use it - mostly I feel uncomfortable with it, tacky and covered in impervious membrane. I trust the vitamin C concentration is really high. The solution is also highly viscose, so I wouldn't recommend using it before serum. My skin is healthy and looks nice, but I can't tell what role this product plays in that :)
Report this reviewGreat!
I was hooked on another fabulous Vitamin C serum (Mario Badescu) and hesitant to change to this one, but since I already tried a couple of The Ordinary products and found them to be very effective, I did give it a chance. I didn’t regret it, this is as good for a third of the price. I use a few drops in the AM.
