Excellent price-point and entry to affordable skincare. I've used a range of products from Hylauronic Acid, Niacinamide, Buffet, Salicylic Mask - they all work well and are great products to have on the go if you're travelling.

Treatment for acne-prone skin

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution is a great option for anyone dealing with acne-prone skin. Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that works to exfoliate the skin and unclog pores, making it an effective ingredient for treating acne. Since incorporating this solution into my skincare routine, I've noticed a significant improvement in the overall texture and appearance of my skin. My pores are less noticeable, and I've experienced fewer breakouts. One of the things I appreciate most about this product is that it's very affordable, yet still highly effective. The formula is also anhydrous, which means it's water-free, making it ideal for oily and acne-prone skin types. The solution is easy to apply and absorbs quickly, making it a convenient addition to my skincare routine. However, I do recommend using a moisturizer afterward, as it can be a bit drying. Overall, I highly recommend The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution to anyone looking for an affordable yet effective treatment for acne-prone skin. It's a great option for those on a budget who still want to incorporate an effective BHA into their skincare routine.

This product is a winner. My skin is glowing and feels softer than ever. It's cleared the persistent blackheads on my cheeks almost completely.

Most gentlest BHA

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

This most gentlest BHA serum that i have ever tried. But it does leaves greasy finish which is common most BHA serums in the market. Beginner to skin care? Grab this.

Works but no good under makeup

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

This seems to work fine and isn’t too drying as it’s quite oily. Can only use at night though as it doesn’t play well under makeup.

Hydrating!

I use this on my arms when they're particularly dry and find this helps to treat rough skin, bumps and is super moisturising.

Good for dry skin

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

This is a SA serum in oil base. More on the dry oil side but will not cause you drying issue while some SA will do. But I don't like oils and Squalane, so I prefer water-based serum

Too heavy for oily skin

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

I've tried to like it and it's probably a hit for those with dry skin, but it just doesn't feel right. I have oily skin and do use oils from time to time, but this one is just too heavy for me. I'll have it used up during the cold season but will get back to water-based BHA serums.

A rare disappointment from The Ordinary

1 stars out of a maximum of 5

Having been impressed by other products by The Ordinary, I decided to give this a go since the 'usual' Salicylic Acid version was sold out and this is marketed as gentler alternative. Unfortunately, with this product, The Ordinary fails to deliver. Whilst the solution doesn't sting, even the tiniest amount deposits a runny, heavy residue which in my case simply exacerbated the spot/pimple being treated. Moreover, because it is hard to apply the runny serum with precision, the product unavoidably hits other areas, thereby creating new blemishes rather than treating pre-existing ones! I'm no chemist but one issue perhaps is that the anhydrous solution simply drowns out the therapeutic action of the acid.
