THE HISTORY OF MAISON FRANCIS KURKDJIAN
Born in Paris in 1969, Francis Kurkdjian showed an early obsession with scent, leading him to train at the prestigious ISIPCA perfume school in Versailles — one of the world’s most renowned perfumery institutions. At just 25, he created Le Mâle for Jean Paul Gaultier, an instant icon and one of the best-selling men’s fragrances of all time. From there, Francis went on to craft celebrated scents for leading fashion houses, earning his reputation as a true master perfumer.
In 2009, he co-founded Maison Francis Kurkdjian with a clear mission: to put the perfumer — and pure creativity — back at the heart of fragrance. Blending French perfumery tradition with modern expression, he introduced the idea of the “Fragrance Wardrobe”, encouraging wearers to choose scents based on mood, moment and personality. Always pushing boundaries, Francis also believes perfume should be experienced beyond the bottle, bringing scent to life through immersive installations at iconic venues including the Grand Palais and Versaille
