BUT FIRST…WHAT IS STRAWBERRY MAKE UP
With 3.6 billion views (and counting), strawberry girl make up is all about using a variety of pink hues and glow-giving formulas across your cheeks, lips and eyes. Aptly named, the new fad pays homage to one of our favourite summer fruits. The result? A fresh, flushed and a oh-so radiant look.
HOW TO ACHIEVE THE STRAWBERRY MAKE UP LOOK
Just as tempting as tucking into a bowl of berries on a warm summer’s day, achieving strawberry make up is simple – just follow the steps below.
1. PREP AND PRIME
As with all make up looks, start by prepping and priming your skin. As strawberry girl make up is renowned for its glossy glow, it’s best to use products with a subtle shine – we’re talking about Versed’s Mood Lighting Luminizing Glow Drops and bareMinerals Original Pore Minimizing Prime Time Primer. 4. CONCEAL CONCENTRATED AREAS
After that, apply a lightweight concealer to blur any imperfections you may want to hide. Apply to selected areas including your forehead, under eyes, the contours of your nose, the corners of your lips, the bottom of your cheeks and chin. Then with your finger or brush… blend, blend, blend away.
5. BLEND, BLUR AND BLUSH YOUR CHEEKS
Next, using one red and one pink cream blusher, apply two to three dots of each pigments up the apples of your cheeks, before blending them together with your fingers. Dab the dots with your index finger, blurring the two together to create that covetable red-meets-pink strawberry flush.
6. HIGHLIGHT WITH PEACH
Now you’ve aced that famed flush, it’s time to enhance your look —add shine with a peachy highlighter. Giving your skin a lit-from-within glow, use lightweight iterations, like Laura Mercier’s RoseGlow Liquid Highlighter in Peach Bronzer, to illuminate the tops of your cheeks. Opting for a cream over a powder provides your complexion with long-lasting hydration, while keeping your colour intact throughout the day.
7. LIGHT UP YOUR LIDS
Once your base is complete, it’s time to accentuate your eyes. But, this time using your bronzer rather than your typical shadows. With your everyday eyeshadow brush blend the same creamy bronzer as before into the creases of your lids working it backwards and forwards (mimicking the movement of a car’s windscreen wipers). Then build and blend as desired.
8. APPLY SOME FAUX FRECKLES
Top off your look with some faux freckles sprinkled sparingly across your cheeks and nose. To do this, using an ultra-fine brown eyeliner, like VIEVE’s Power Ink Liner 0.43ML, simply dap the tip where you want to give the illusion of freckles. The secret? Don’t get too carried away – you want them to be believable, after all. When it comes to faux freckles, less is more.
9. DEFINE YOUR EYES
Add your finishing touches by using a fine-tipped eyeliner to create the subtlest cat-eye across your eye line. Simply draw along the lash line, extending upwards and outwards to create a fine wing. Once complete, grab your mascara and apply the colour from root to tip – brushing upwards two to three times on each eye.
10. LEVEL UP YOUR LIPS
Lastly, perfect your pout in just three easy steps. Start with applying a pink-hued lip liner to sculpt your shape. Using the powerful pigment, outline your lips starting with the corner of the top lip then working your way around. Then, taking the same two cream blushers you used for your cheeks (efficient, we know), dab them onto your lips and blend. Complete the look by sweeping a luscious lip gloss over the colour and enjoy a subtle yet shimmering sign off.
