She’s So Cult: Tracee Ellis Ross of Pattern

Tracey Ellis Ross

{Pattern} may have joined our ranks in September but we’re still pinching ourselves! To honour the the {hair care} brand on a mission to meet the needs of the curly, coily and tight-textured community, we caught up with legendary actor and founder Tracee Ellis Ross to chat through her festive essentials, from {make up} to music...

{CB} Hi Tracee! First up, when it comes to beauty, what makes something ‘cult’?

{TER} A ‘cult’ product has to absolutely do what it says it’s going to do. It must perform exceptionally well.

{CB} What’s on your Christmas wishlist?

{TER} Pattern has a Tortoise Tool Kit that is everything! It contains a tortoise zip pouch with a tortoise wide tooth comb and a tortoise edge tool. Chic and stylish.

{CB} Which song do you have on repeat right now?

{TER} I have Beyoncé’s Renaissance album on repeat. Don’t we all?!

{CB} What’s your go-to look for party season?

{TER} My go-to party look for the holidays is a matte red {lip} and a low, slicked back bun with lots of {mascara}.

{CB} Desert Island product?

{TER} Our {Leave-In Conditioner} (£25/€28.75) is my Holy Grail; it works as a detangler, conditioner and styler.

{CB} And finally, what’s next for your brand, Pattern?

{TER} We’ll be continuing to grow! We are launching a new category soon — which will be innovative and disruptive — and we’ll continue to live out our mission to exceed the beauty needs of the curly, coily and tight-textured community with formulas, tools and accessories designed just for us.
