Why we’re working with Beauty Banks for World Kindness Day

After another tough year, the work of our charity partner, Beauty Banks, to help those living in hygiene poverty is essential — now more than ever. The brainchild of two titans of the British beauty industry — journalist Sali Hughes and PR-pro Jo Jones — Beauty Banks was founded with one simple mission: to make hygiene poverty history. Everybody deserves to have access to everyday essentials like {toothpaste}, {shampoo} and {sanitary products} without stigma or judgement, and the charity has been raising money and providing supplies to those in need since 2018. This World Kindness Day, we’re shining a spotlight on our partnership and showing you just how we’re making a difference…

In August 2020, Cult Beauty began a charity partnership with Beauty Banks in a bid to help the many struggling to find their feet in the aftermath of the pandemic. We recognise that our support of Beauty Banks’ life-changing work is now more important than ever — which is why we’ll be donating a minimum of £60,000 over the next year to the organisation.

“This additional money from Cult Beauty will allow us to provide more essential toiletries to people living in hygiene poverty in the UK,” says Hughes. “We will also ringfence some of the funding to help charities working with refugees newly arrived in the UK from Afghanistan, and also those working with the increasing number of UK women fleeing violence in their own homes during the pandemic.”

In the run-up to the holidays, we’ve also been supporting Beauty Banks’ efforts to provide gift-wrapped donations to charities across the country — it’s only right that those who can’t buy gifts can still experience the joy of unwrapping a treat on {Christmas} morning! That’s where we elves at Cult Beauty HQ came in; we transformed the office into a festive grotto, donned Santa hats and defrosted the Michael Bublé album before getting to work on wrapping (and wrapping, and wrapping) tons of Christmas treats.

But we’re not done yet! We’re so excited to continue our support of Beauty Bank’s vital work, over the next 12 months and beyond…

SPF daily; just say ‘no’ to face wipes; there’s no such thing as too much hydration). Chloe’s perfect day would be spent laying in the sun, a book in one hand and a cocktail (one spicy margarita, please) in the other. However, living in East London, the most she can usually hope for is sneaking 20 minutes with her Kindle and a pint in a pub garden.
