How to get the ‘glass skin’ glow with BECCA

Ever noticed how those Korean Instagrammers have beautifully polished skin that looks almost other-worldly? The same goes for models or those well-heeled types you see about town whose skin looks like they’ve emerged straight from the facialist’s clinic. We’re not just talking a blemish-free face – we’re looking at texture, that backlit effect, glossy and glassy.

This is what’s known as ‘glass skin’, a huge ‘SoKo’ beauty trend which has made its way over here – set to be a main look for 2018. It’s high-maintenance and expensive-looking, requiring several products layered on top of other another. A last-minute, non-commital look this ain’t. What we at CB Towers like to call ‘Billionaire Face’, for ladies (and lords) of leisure – or the rest of us if you’re able to get up a bit earlier in the morning.

Ready to give it a go? Our #CultBrandofTheMonth {BECCA} is our go-to brand for creating an immaculate complexion – whether your skin’s dry, red, pigmented, dull, or combination/oily there’s a product to get it back to its glowing best.

To get this look spot-on, you need to prep skin to the max, and exfoliation and hydration is key. Use {Alpha H Liquid Gold} every other night which contains exfoliating glycolic acid to resurface and leaving skin looking good as new. Then, the next morning pop on {Tony Moly Intense Care Snail Hydro-Gel Mask} (another K-Beauty best-seller) plumps, repairs and hydrates knackered complexions with snail mucin extract – leave it on for 20-30 minutes for it to work its magic.

if your complexion is dry and a bit dull, layer on {The Ordinary Plant Derived Squalene} which hydrates to the max and prevents the ongoing loss of moisture that can compromise skin’s suppleness. Otherwise a spritz of {Queen of Hungary Mist} can provide your skin with an extra moisture boost without overloading it.

Now it’s time to prime. There’s a difference between ‘glassy’ and greasy… we’re talking moisture here, not oil. A delicate, dewy radiance accompanied by a luminous glow isn’t the same as looking like you’ve rubbed your face with chip paper. So just be wary if you have oily skin, you’ll want to mop up that excess sebum first THEN create your glassy look over the top. Pop on {BECCA’s Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector} which leaves skin velvety smooth.

On the other hand if pigmentation or blemishes are your bugbear, you need to up the glow-ante. {BECCA’s Backlight Priming Filter} contains ‘soft focus’ pigments which act like a real-life Instagram filter to airbrush imperfections and give skin a flawless, lit-from-within look, like you’ve been travelling with your own personal lighting crew.

Suffering from a dull, sallow complexion? {BECCA’s First Light Priming Filter} will give your ‘meh’-looking skin a high wattage gleam thanks to the purple hue which counterbalances ashy/yellowish tones.

Now you don’t want to ruin that gorgeous canvas with a cakey base make-up. {BECCA’s Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation} delivers medium covering and a light dewy finish, disguising blemishes and redness to further promote that flawless complexion.

And the grand finale – highlighter provides that final touch of polish. The jewel in BECCA’s crown is their {Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter} (we love the ‘Pearl’ shade for that real ‘glassy’ effect). With illuminating pigments to grant effortless lustre, apply it wherever the light naturally hits your face (like the cheekbones, temple, browbone and Cupid’s Bow). Otherwise mix a small amount in with your foundation for a bespoke glow.
