Keep your make up tools clean

Many of you have undoubtedly dry-heaved your way through Stevie Miller’s {‘Bugs in my Beautyblender‘} video but, we’d like to take this opportunity to reassure you that a) our beloved pink sponges are all, 100% genuine and b) are stored safely at Cult Beauty towers in Farringdon in their sealed boxes.

{Beautyblender} have been swift to respond to this video – stressing that all of their sponges are manufactured in an ‘in an ISO Certified U.S. manufacturing facility that upholds the highest standards in quality control. As a result, it would be impossible for a sponge to come from our facility in the condition depicted in the video.’

They were also eager to stress the importance of purchasing your Beautyblender from an authorised retailer – like Cult Beauty!! – to ensure that you receive the level of quality and performance that the Beautyblender’s known for. As with any popular beauty product there are fakes out there.

It’s also vitally important to keep your {make up} applicators clean. Stevie’s sponge had obviously never been cleaned or stored properly, you wouldn’t clean your toilet with a sponge that looked like that, let alone let it touch your face!

We know it’s boring but it only takes a couple of minutes to banish blemish-causing bacteria. Try the brand’s {Blendercleanser} – a gentle, lavender-infused liquid soap which eliminates grime, and keeps your make up applicators sterile. This also comes in a convenient {Pure Solid} soap bar – just swirl your brushes in the pot to quickly remove make up and other, rather yukky stuff (we think it’s best not to speculate… #shudder).

For all-natural lovers, Dr. Bronner’s {Castile Liquid Soap} does everything – it’s so organic you can even brush your teeth with it (although you probably don’t want to) – and makes light work of keeping your make up tools spotless and hygienic. The {Baby Mild} formula is totally unscented and adored by almost every beauty blogger you could mention. I prefer {Eucalyptus} – it leaves things so fresh (and so clean, clean).

And for on-the-spot sterilisation, spritz The Pro Hygiene Collection’s {Antibacterial Make Up Spray} directly onto sponges or brush bristles to keep bacteria at bay. However, this does not exempt you from a regular brush-cleaning session – TPHC also do a thorough {Make Up Brush Cleanser} (also works on sponges!) – it’s a pro favourite and kills 99.99% of germs in sixty seconds. No bugs allowed.
