In Flight Beauty Must-haves

I'm off to Portugal in T-6 (whoop), and because I'm far too frugal to PAY to take luggage, I'll be packing just bikinis and these itty bitty beauty must-haves.

I'm a firm believer in using flying time to do intensive skin care rituals, and because something about the hideous cabin atmosphere makes my face go MENTAL, I attempt to stop spots in their insidious tracks with a multi-pronged attack. Although I've recently warned everybody off wipes, flying (and festivals) is when they come into their own. Korres' {Milk Proteins Cleansing Wipes} are gentle and non-drying, to eliminate make up without leaving skin feeling tight or uncomfortable.

Skin clean, it's time for a mask - providing I'm sitting somewhere sufficiently discreet so as not to terrify small children/grown men. Glamglow's {Youthmud} comes in a hand-luggage friendly 15ml, and is really good for nourishing, brightening, tightening (and tingling). Leave for 5-10 minutes, then mist with Caudalie's {Beauty Elixir} (to render it wipeable), and use another cloth to take everything off. I then spritz on a bit more Caudalie gorgeouness and get hydrating with a vengeance. Su-Man's {Skin Reborn Essential Discovery Collection} contains a mini {Velvet Skin Brightening Serum}, which is brimming with antioxidants to protect against the cabin nasties, and hydrating hyaluronic acid to keep skin feeling beautifully plump and dewy. It also smells exquisite, which is reassuring when the plane smells anything but...

I also love an eye treatment - Caudalie's {Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Eye and Lip Cream} is crammed with free radical fighters and anti-inflammatory horse chestnut, to send (eye) bags packing and protect delicate skin against stress and dehydration. Elizabeth Arden's {Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant} then does a little bit of everything – I rely on it to keep my lips (and cuticles) soft and nourished, before using any excess to condition my brows and eyelashes.

Yes! Nurse {Hand Cream} smells reassuringly cinnamon-y, and is intensively hydrating without being greasy (perfect for pampering paws whilst in transit), and Aesop's {Ginger Flight Therapy} is soothingly ritualistic – when applied to pulse points, it helps restore calm if I start to feel anxious or jittery.

And for the flight back (at which point I anticipate having a serious hangover), I'm going to cower behind Holistic Silk's {Silk Eye Mask}, plug myself into my headphones and refuse to talk to anybody - because I'm sociable like that.
