Born in Australia circa 1987 (not 620 BC - contrary to popular belief) Aesop combines science with nature and a dollop of philosophical wisdom to create skin care that's also a lifestyle choice. Recommended for use alongside 'a healthy diet, sensible exercise' and (in my opinion most importantly) 'a moderate intake of red wine, and a regular dose of stimulating literature', Aesop's approach to complexion perfection couldn't be farther from the made-up nonsensical jargon employed by some of the bigger (nameless) beauty conglomerates...
Here are just some of my Aesop essentials...
NEW >> Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Hydrator -
Knowing I'm a dedicated Aesop-phile (my eyes light up at the sight of those black and white labels), I was given the arduous task of trialing the latest addition to the Parsley Seed family (I know, I know. It's such a hard life). Not only, am I proud to have this sitting on my nightstand, but the lightweight formula is perfect for my easily upset/often oil-slick of a complexion; nourishing without exacerbating congestion, blocked pores or unwelcome shine. The finish is velvety soft and matte - a perfect base for make-up and certain to be my go-to moisturiser for summer... if that ever happens.
Reverence Aromatique Hand Wash
- There's something a bit 'As Good As It Gets' about me... you know, Jack Nicholson and I would get on like a house on fire, holding (gloved) hands as we navigate cracks in pavements and ensure our cupboards are well stocked with an outward-facing army of baked beans. I'm therefore, unsurprisingly, a neurotic hand-washer (I'm not painting myself in a good light) and the thought of peeling an orange makes me twitch. Hence, this gorgeous, pumice-suffused cleanser is literally, a life saver (or at least, nervous breakdown stopper) as it eliminates every last trace of grime and gently sloughs dead skin, without leaving my hands looking
like they've been scrubbed to within an inch of their existence. The scent is refreshingly herbal and keeps my mitts clean and neuroses in check, without that hospital-ward disinfectant-esque feeling.
And lastly, I'm never without Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque
to perk up my complexion whenever it's looking lack-lustre. Purified clay acts like a magnet for impurities; purging pores of blackhead-causing residual grime, while Aloe Vera leaves my face feeling baby soft without that all-too-common tightness. A brilliant way to re-set my skin at times when it's giving me grief, this is perfect for those plagued with disobedient, combination complexions. You can thank me later...
