BECCA Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation Reviews

An honest review... on dry and porous skin
Most of the reviews here claimed that this foundation would be relatively good for dry skin, and I had high hopes hoping it would be a good dupe from the Armani foundation. I’ve used this foundation multiple times on my face, like around 5 times and I really tried to give a chance. However if I’m beyond honest, yes it was sheer and felt airy and like I wasn’t wearing makeup, but it certainly looked like I was wearing makeup, I didn’t really get the no makeup makeup look from it as the foundation sat on top of my dry skin and clung to my pores making it very cakey. The first time I wore it I wore it with a beauty blender, then I realised, that it clearly wasn’t supposed to be worn like it as it was far too soaking and looked extremely cakey, so from then on I applied it with brushes and fingers trying to get a good consistency. I then went on the Becca website and reapplied it with my fingers, applying the recommended amount of “drops” from the packing. I do actually like the packaging however the product does not live up to claims on Cult Beauty, I only noticed just before writing this review that beauty guru Tati reviewed this and gave it a pretty bad review. I genuinely cannot express how much of a waste of money this was and because I ordered it I felt odd about returning a foundation after opening. Because of the weird consistency on skin types, please before you spent £32 of your hard earned money, buy a sample of the foundation to check it doesn’t apply like it did to me. Much love, Connie x
    Not happy
Didn’t like this foundation. I had to mix it with other foundations just to get the use out of it. Won’t purchase again.
Love the foundation, hate the packaging
This has been my everyday go-to foundation for a long time. It’s sheer enough to look like my own skin and covers enough to even out my hyperpigmented skin tone. My skin but better. I love the dewy look on my otherwise dry skin. I also like it isn’t overly perfumed and doesn’t irritate my skin. I sometimes forget that I’m wearing foundation at all. That said, I hate the pipette/dropper solution and just wish Becca would’ve stuck with the pump they have for their other foundations.
    Loveee it
One of the best foundation I've had. It´s very dewy and gives a fresh natural look! Also good for people with dry skin. Although I don't think I would recommend it to those who want to cover up their acne or similar, as it is a light/medium coverage. (ps; the lightest shade porcelain isn't as light as shown in the picture).
    The best !
Super foundation, like a second skin only better!
    Beautiful dewy skin
Looks absolutely amazing, buildable coverage and a glowy finish. Feels moisturizing, would skip the oily primers before this though. I was skeptical at first, looking at the reviews, but I guess this is just one of those products that either work for you or don’t. On my combination skin this works wonders, especially on the cheeks and the forehead. With this I look like I’d drink all the water I need on the daily lol. A glow from within.
Great for dehydrated skin but dispenser is useless
I really like the foundation but hate the dispenser. It would take more time to get the foundation out of the dispenser. I prefer the pump as it's more easier and quicker. The foundation gives a nice dewy glow but the shade I got (light) was a bit too orange for me. It says it's for neutral undertone but i think the shade will suit a warmer skin tone.
    So far favourite foundation ever!
I have dry skin and no matter how much I exfoliate and moisturize every foundation I've tried before this one sticks to certain areas of my skin. This foundation is so dewy and glows beautifully. Doesn't go patchy or stick to dry areas. Love it!
    Love the product...hate the bottle
This is the first foundation that I have loved. I like a dewy natural look but I like some coverage too. It’s my dream foundation. But the bottle is a nightmare. The dropper isn’t great but the worst is it all gets around the lid and leaks out. I can’t pop it in my makeup bag as it needs to be upright all the time.
    Stupid bottle with dropper
Why they felt the need to give it this complicated method of the dispenser is beyond me the button never wants to pop up like it’s supposed to so makes it really hard to get out the bottle. The foundation is a nice natural dewy coverage that doesn’t settle into my fine lines. Though I do need to set it with powder or my skin looks too wet!
Really like the medium shade, not pink at all, just perfect. Maybe not the best foundation for oily skin :(
    love and hate it!
The porcelain shade is perfect for my pale skin as its got very neutral undertones! It's very natural looking and hydrating mostly, however some days it can look very shiny and feel greasy even on my drier skin or go patchy. The bottle is horrendous and it leaks everywhere, so I have to keep it in a ziplock bag so it doesn't go all over my other makeup. Overall though, this product makes my skin look healthy, hydrated and blurs out imperfections!
    Must have
The best I ever had. Porcelain is perfect for light skin.
    Beautiful skin
I love this foundation it's my holy grail foundation! However the bottle is a nightmare. I really hope they change the bottle then it would be perfect.
    Just no
I have normal to dry skin (mostly normal), this foundation made my skin look sweaty and greasy. it looked so cakey from the beginning. I tried to love it because of all the hype but I just couldn't make it work. I can honestly say that it is one of the worst foundations I ever had. (I'm a MUA so I tried many different foundation and believe me when I say that I tried to make it work).
    Glow for days
This is my go-to foundation, it's sheer and very lightweight but does a great job at evening out skin tone. Gives an amazing natural glowy finish but would maybe not recommend to people with oily skin.
I cannot rave about this foundation enough. I'm about to purchase my 2nd bottle and thought I'd write a little review. This is perfect is you want that "your skin, but better" look. It isn't full coverage but it is buildable and it leaves the skin with a dewy but soft-focus effect. I have the shade Medium and it's perfect for those of you who are an NC40 in MAC however what I love about this shade is that it isn't ORANGE. It's actually brown with more of an olive undertone rather than that weird orangey tinge that appears with MAC foundations. Just a delight to wear. If you're thinking about getting it...don't even think, just order it. You won't regret it.
Amazing foundation for natural daytime look!
So impressed with this foundation, so light looking with good coverage for the day which looks dewy and beautiful without putting too much on. Love it!!
    Misleading shades
I purchased this foundation in 'porcelain'. I thought it was going to be really light , I looked at the picture above and it was described as ' very fair ' this foundation wasn't full coverage. And it was a beige colour darker than Ivory! Shame as I would have liked a foundation which was described correctly. Overall, I did like the packaging and the style of the pump, it was easy applying to the brush.
    Amazing foundation but...
I didn't see any reviews for the porcelain shade so I decided to buy it based on everyone saying fair was a bit dark. The foundation looks amazing, the coverage is buildable; light/medium, don't expect it to cover spots you will need concealer and you get a lovely dewy finish. Amazing for dry skin but defo moisturise it sometimes clings to dry patches. I recommend setting it to tone it down especially where you get oily during the day. However, it is too dark to call it porcelain. I had to wear it in the evening as it's a few shades dark for me (good thing is it doesn't oxidise). It didn't look too obvious so you can wear it on it's own. I recommend mixing it with other foundations to add some dewyness, does a lovely job. Would have been 4.5 stars but the shade range for light and deep skin tones disappoints me and the actual colour for porcelain isn't porcelain, just a heads up my pasty sisters! For reference I wear Siberia/mont blanc in nars sheer glow, r210 in makeup forever, CT magic foundation shade 1, YSL br10, don't wear Mac but I'm nw10
    Amazing foundation
Really good formula, skin looks great! I have combination skin and foundation tends to "stick" on dry patches on my skin, this does not. I would have given it 5 stars but the bottle it comes in is straight up terrible. The first one I ordered, the pipette/dropper did not work and I got sent a new one. But the problem is not only in the dropper function, but when you put the dropper back in the bottle, it kind of spills foundation out of the bottle, making a mess (and wasting product). Because of the bottle design, I would not repurchase it or recommend it.
    Holy grail
I was looking for a lightweight foundation, that would give my skin a nice glow from within look and that doesn't irritate my skin. After checking the ingredients - which are wonderful - I ordered the foundation and after the first application I knew this was my new all time favorite! My skin looks fresh, hydrated and glowy - but not greasy or overly dewy at all. The product doesn't cling to my dry patches on the cheeks. It looks better and better during the day. The Lasting power is amazing. I wear it the whole day and even when it's really hot and I'm sweaty, the foundation stays in place. I have sensitive skin and rosacea and my skin loves this. No irritations at all. My forehead an nose are a bit on the oily side and my cheeks are quite dry with some dry patches and redness. I do not look greasy during the day in my T-Zone and I don't have to blot during the day. I'm MAC NC18-20, Urban Decay Naked 3.0 and Fair in this Becca Foundation. Perfect Color-match!
I'd buy again if they change the bottle
I love this product - it's dewy, smooth and gives me a natural but glowy finish (I have combo skin). But. The bottle is so incredibly bad I cannot even explain. I really thought the other complains regarding the packaging was a little bit exaggerated but oh was I wrong. Would love to buy again but NOT until they change the bottle to a bottle with pump (the packaging of their Ultimate Coverage-foundation is great, I don't know where they went wrong with this one).
    Not for Snow Whites
I got the lightest shade (fair) and it still looks well orange on my skin. So be aware of that if you are pale. For comparison, I use YSL Top Secrets in Clear and the UD foundation 1.0. However, the formula is really nice and it does give you a lovely glow that lasts. At the same time it doesn't feel oily or tacky. Shame I won't be able to use it :( CULT BEAUTY REPLY - BECCA have just launched the lighter Porcelain colour which will be perfect for you.
I purchased this foundation as I struggle with lots of allergies and very sensitive skin. So glad I did, it is amazing! Can barely feel it on your skin and I have found best application is with a beauty blender. I chose the shade fair, and normally wear Dior star 010 and Urban decay 2.0.
I have been eyeing this up for a while, after reading so many amazing reviews and knowing that the brand rarely fails, I bought it. My main concern was that it would make my dehydrated/combination skin look oily, but this is not the case at all. In fact it has really helped with my dehydration and my skin is not oily at all. Instead it looks healthy and glowing.
I have older oily skin and it is okay for me
So, this to me is a very lightweight serum, slightly elastic textured foundation. It is quite silky and glides over the skin. I am older (50) with quite oily skin, but I am fed up with the grind of trying to mattify my skin, it just looks like a dried up piece of old leather, so I am going with the oil. And this does have a glow, but not as much as I expected. I have quite noticeable pores but again whilst it doesn't extinguish my pores neither does it accentuate them. I do think the shades are disappointing, I purchased Porcelain but it is not the palest of the pale, more a neutral light beige, and that is disappointing from a range that used to have the most amazingly extensive range of shades for every hue. All in all I like this, it applies well and wears well on my skin, but I would like some improvement on the shades.
    Beautiful glow!
I loved using this as it gave me a beautiful glow with sheer to buildable coverage, I just wish it lasted longer on my skin! I used a setting powder bit still found by 3 pm it was gone from my skin!
    Light, great cover
This foundation is perfect for everyday. Has light coverage, absorbs well, blends in and moisturising... Looks natural and flawless.
    Luminous foundation for dry skin
Awesome foundation. It improves the appearance of the skin. On my dry skin it looks amazing, it moisturizes it as if it was a second skin. What I find a bit odd it the dispensar. It takes a bit of time to get used to it.
    Aqua luminous foundation
Very dewy and lovely foundation. Gives my skin a lovely fresh dewy look.
Very nice tone with light coverage. Lasts all day and one of my favourite foundations!
The foundation is fine, not the best coverage as I normally buy another brand. I found this not so natural, as it has this (white tint) and I have olive skin. I look like I have foundation on when wearing this alone. Mixing it with another brand works but I won't be buying it again, as it is too expensive for too little coverage.
This is amazing, if u like light coverage every day, flawless dewy finish, you will love this. I have nothing bad to say. Lasts a solid 8 hours, looks amazing and skin like on the skin. Has made it to the top of my foundation lists and there are many foundations I own.
This is my HOLY GRAIL foundation for a dewy look! And the most important for me - it doesn't break out my very sensitive combination skin! JUST WOW! the tone medium is perfect olive, not greenish, not "orange" looking, but the just natural tan color (I have medium "olive" Russian skin). perfect for summer! And the light is perfect for the winter looks when I'm pretty pale (but still not super-light!)
    Best for dehydrated skin!
It’s a very moisturising foundation with light coverage, but you can definitely build it up. The bottle’s a little messy because of the dropper, but overall it’s worth it!
    Shade range
Looks gorgeously luminous but I got light thinking it would be a good match but oh no! So dark ! Packaging seems ok but could get annoying. I’d get the next lightest shade but don’t want to waste money and it be dark again. *sighs* I just want to be a luminous goddess.
    Not for me
I read some bad reviews but decided to buy it anyway, this was a mistake. After hours of wearing this foundation my face looked as if I was sweating from every pore but it was just grease coming from the foundation. It’s probably good for someone who doesn’t need much coverage and would only use a tiny amount.
    I like it
Gorgeous product - hydrating, light coverage
I’d debated a long time prior buying this foundation in 'Fair'. I'd read other reviews calling attention to the startlingly warm colour coming out of the bottle. I’d wouldn’t have thought 'Fair' could match my skin tone because the foundation looked too dark, but it's not. I’ve dark auburn hair, blue eyes and a neutrally light complexion, not porcelain but quite light. 'Fair' is lovely on my skin, it looks absolutely gorgeous on and I'm delighted with it. I’m unable to use products with fragrance and must wear a good mineral sunscreen during the day, every day. Even the best mineral sunscreens sometimes leaves a slight white cast on my face. A few drops of this foundation are all I find necessary providing light coverage. I sometimes add those drops to my moisturiser or primer, sometimes it's not necessary. The foundation is that hydrating. I apply all the products to my face before my final step of applying a good mineral sunscreen alone. Carefully shake the contents each time before dispensing it. The bottle is beautiful and heavy with a pipette incorporated within the top. Pushing the top of the bottle lid's button releases drops of a thin, highly-pigmented, fluid foundation with a serum consistency.
    Great, but...
I bought this foundation a while ago in a shade medium which was too dark for my light-medium skin tone. I didn't gave up on using it (I mix it with other lighter ones) because it has amazing formula: glowy, good coverage, looks natural. The problem that it has terrible packaging. Every time I want to put pack the dropper it spills product out which is not convenient and waste product. They need to change the bottle for such a great foundation. Unfortunately, would not repurchase.
Just as it says on the bottle
This is a luminous/dewy foundation and is perfect for day and night as it's buildable. You will not get full mac studio sculpt coverage from this but you will get beautiful lite from within skin from this. Oily skin will need the blurring powder to go with this though, but the two together are a match made by the make up gods.
    Lovely glow
This foundation gives such a gorgeous natural from within glow, and comes in lovely packaging. Lasts long as well.
    Amazing on the skin, but.....
I purchased this to use as my everyday foundation and I find it's buildable to a light/medium coverage, sits well on my skin and has a great finish. Perfect for everyday. I just wish it came in my shade, I am very fair and I can only use this foundation if I have used fake tan. The lightest shade porcelain is way too dark and the description "Very Fair with Slight Pink Undertones" is incredibly misleading. I won't be purchasing it again.
    Gorgeous glow!
I bought this after my skin improved - I've struggled with acne for years and years but after a shift up in the quality of my skin care I cleared up a bit and swapped to this foundation. I'm so glad I did. It works beautifully blending just a couple of drops and a dab of the Perfector Liquid in Pearl with the M439, gives me a gorgeous dewy glow that lasts all day, even with my super oily skin. Prep, prime and powder and it lasts all day!
Lightweight, makes my skin look so healthy!
I really love this foundation! I have dry to combination skin, and I find it suits me really well. I use it with the Backlight Priming filter and it looks so good! I find one dispense from the applicator is enough for my whole face, for me it covers my blemishes, and my skin looks healthy and glowing. You can build then coverage if you want to but I find that one layer is enough, and I don't have perfect skin! I also find that it looks much better on my skin without a powder, but I usually use a setting spray anyway. This foundation also doesn't oxidise at all with is really good. I got the shade Porcelain and it's a good match for me. For reference I also wear Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation in shade 2, and Urban Decay Naked Weightless Foundation in shade 1.0. I'm definitely going to order the matching concealer soon to try!
    Gorgeous but...
I originally bought this as my day to day foundation (L'Oréal infallible 24h) was too matte and felt quite drying. Tried this as knew it would be the opposite. The coverage for me is far too light for me to wear the foundation on its own. Mixed in with my normal foundation however it is brilliant! Gives a gorgeous glow and makes my skin look amazing. Definitely for those of you who go for medium coverage foundations as a standard this will need to be added to foundation rather than used as one.
    Not worth the money
Currently making my way through all the cruelty free foundations and I'm disappointed to say this one is average at best. I was aware it was a light weight foundation but it really gives me no coverage. Although I would say it's semi-build-able, it definitely isn't even easy to get a medium coverage let alone covering spots of blemishes. If I put it over any dry spots (which I assumed it would be great at doing seeing as Matte foundations normally cling to dryness and this certainly isn't matte) it just highlighted them, clumping and looking patchy. I haven't tried this mixed into a full coverage matte foundation but I definitely will because it's a great colour match and gives a beautiful glow that doesn't make me look too sweaty if I use a good coverage setting powder. I 100% expected more from this foundation but it isn't all bad. Packaging is beautiful and Becca actively fights against animal testing in cosmetics which I encourage everyone to look for in their makeup. If you have no blemishes, want a glow and don't need to wear foundation all day (12 hours) then this is fine. (Shade fair)
This foundation is one of the best ones I own, especially for dry skin as it is very dewy. If you're oily I probably wouldn't recommend it for you unless you use setting powder. The bottle itself is very nice, its a great product.
    She's done it again...
Rebecca Morrice Williams is a name much revered at Cult Beauty towers, she is the founder and creative genius behind this brilliant brand. This, the latest in a series of her mind-blowingly good launches this year, has instantly elbowed itself onto my top bathroom shelf (yes I do rate my beauty collection by shelf...don't you??). The beauty of the BECCA models is legendary - I have always assumed that they have an island somewhere off Perth where they genetically modified them... and while this foundation will not turn you into a beautiful BECCA model mutant, it does create exactly the same evenly-tones glow that you see in the advertising. This light cream foundation layers brilliantly to deliver light to medium coverage, as well as BECCA's hallmark lit-from-within glow. It is undetectable on your skin so you just look like you have having an exceedingly good skin day, with the inner glow of someone who has recently fallen in love :)
    Only for normal-dry skin
The foundation is seriously good. I have dry/normal skin and am very pale. I have to use Illamasqua skin base foundation in SB01 (white) to mix with almost all my foundations, but the thing is: this foundation is really what it claims to be: luminous. But be careful because even though I am dry/normal I have to set it with powder and then during the day use 3 - 4 blotting papers. It can become very oily after a couple of hours, so definitely not for oily skin types. I have ordered fair and it is still a bit orange on me, otherwise it is very nice. Coverage: light to medium and you feel like Edward Cullen during the day....glowing. CULT BEAUTY REPLY - BECCA have just launched the Porcelain colour which will be perfect for you.
    So easy to wear
I've been searching for the perfect foundation for ages, and I finally think I've found 'the one'. This is so easy to apply (I use a beauty blender), looks gorgeous and dewy, and gives good coverage if you build it up. I bought the colour 'light' after checking the Becca site for matching advice. I was a bit worried it would be too dark after reading other reviews, but I was pleased to find it's pretty close. I've just purchased 'fair' as well as my skin is getting a bit paler now in the winter (I am in NZ). For reference I am normally a Mac NW15.
