Decent hydrating serum

I got a 15ml as part of a set and I cocktail it with C-Firma every morning. I'd say it gets the job done but not particularly value for money where there are other brands at better price points with HA serums that give instant hydration. It's a gel texture that absorbs beautifully and leaves no residue. I wouldn't compare this to The Ordinary as the efficacy of this is better. I like the product but with so many options of well-priced HA serums, I wouldn't think this is the best value for money product.

Know what you are paying for

This is the first Drunk Elephant product I purchased since it (finally) launched in the UK. I have to say it is quite expensive for a simple hydrating serum, but it is so pleasant to use as it does not get sticky like other hyaluronic acid products, so it’s perfect for laying. I would say the hydration effect is medium, so it’s suitable for oily to slightly dry skin types, really dry skin might need something “stronger” or layer other products. I would also suggest using a mist right before applying this, so that you don’t run out of it in a month and the hyaluronic acid can work better. I usually need two pumps of this for the face and neck. Luckily I received an email from Cult Beauty that I’ll get a refund, as DE has come to their senses and decided to decrease their UK prices a little bit, so it makes the price a little more acceptable now.

Not sure...

It has a gel texture that transforms into a water burst and initially it feels very good but after a minute it feels like nothing. A hydrating toner (is&tree ,hada labo, klairs) will hydrate 10000 times better and help the absorption of other products and it's 30 euros cheaper...

The good stuff

Really nice acid, it has no sticky residue like most and leaves skin feeling plump and hydrated! Also mixes in well with other products. 100% recommend.

Lovely

This is in a gel formula and the texture of it is so nice. I mix it with the marula oil and it is the best combo. I love this and will definitely buy again.

First try...bodes well!

I just used this product for the first time last night and have woken up to much happier, better-hydrated skin! It absorbed instantly and left me with a silky base on which to apply the Lala Whipped Cream and my dehydrated skin was instantly soooo much happier. I'll definitely be using this regularly to support my skin as we move into the colder months.

Good basic hydrating serum

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I quite enjoyed this serum. It works well under makeup or mixed and layered with other products. The texture is like a thicker gel but it absorbs quickly and doesn't leave any tackiness or feeling of your skin being covered. I have quite dry skin so I like the added hydration

Unnecessary

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

This does not really impart much hydration or moisture on its own, you’d have to use a lot of product for it to spread well which means this will run out very quickly. It is much better when mixed in with other drunk elephant serums and moisturisers. Therefore at £52 it’s not worth the money. You’d end up spending at least £110 to get the full benefit. You could buy any other silicone free Hyaluronic Serum at a reasonable price to do the same thing instead.

Great addition to your regular moisturiser

5 stars out of a maximum of 5

My skin is acne prone, combination and dehydrated. I’ve been using an expensive clinic B5 serum for sometime. It’s double the price of this for half the amount of product and does the same thing. If anything this is nicer to use as it leaves a cooling effect. Can be used on its own but I like to layer my regular moisturiser over the top day and night. If your looking for hydration without saturation then this is ideal, I’ve now stopped using facial oils as they just never absorb enough to use in the day too.
