When freelance beauty writer and Cult Beauty devotee Sarina Munro got in touch to pitch a piece about the make up ranges catering to many - not the few - we seized the opportunity to usher her 'Backstage' and grant you access to her (unadulterated!) insights. Over to Sarina...

"As a beauty journalist and woman of colour, I love that {Cult Beauty} has a variety of brands that champion inclusivity and shades that cater to all. Gone are the bleak days of struggling to find a colour match. Now there is a plethora of choice – shades for the most alabaster skin tone to the deepest, as well as different prices, coverage and finishes.

{1} Hourglass {Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick} - £42

My ride-or-die - this was the first foundation that perfectly matched my skin tone. There are 30 shades and 'Beige' is perfect for my Asian skin. This triangular stick of magic is a full-coverage foundation, where you can use just a little and blend it out with a kabuki brush for a natural, radiant finish or build it up for a full-on Instagram glamour look. This also doubles up as a concealer and is perfect for travelling, as you won’t get any drips or leaks. If you haven’t tried this much lauded foundation – get shopping – you will NOT regret! Every beauty lover should have this in their kit!

{2} Too Faced {Born This Way Foundation} - £29

Forget Facetune, this oil-free, medium-to-full coverage liquid gives a flawless finish. It comes in 35 shades and applied with a Beautyblender it really does look undetectable – just like it says on the bottle! I love this foundation for days I want full coverage, while looking “natural”. It’s also a go-to product when I’m hormonal and my skin needs oil-free products. It is my favourite liquid foundation.

{3} Beautyblender {Bounce} - £32

This medium-to-full coverage liquid foundation has just joined the Cult Beauty family. I love the bottle, as it can also be used as a mixing palette – ingenious! There are 32 shades and it feels lovely on the skin. I hope that BeautyBlender will expand the deeper shades, so that there are more choices for darker skin tones like there are for Caucasian and olive skin.

{4} Jouer {Essential High Coverage Crème Foundation} - £34

This foundation comes in 50 shades – yes 50! I feel that this in itself is something huge and should be celebrated. I love the shades for ethnic and deeper skin tones. This foundation is oil-free, matte, long-wearing and gives super-high coverage. It also contains skin-nourishing ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid to hydrate and a tripeptide complex to plump out fine lines.

{5} NYX Professional Makeup {High Definition Foundation} - £14

This is my favourite budget foundation. It is a light-diffusing formula that comes in 20 shades. It gives a medium coverage and is a great everyday foundation for people who prefer something that feel more lightweight.

{6} Hourglass {Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint} - £51

This wonder product is beyond any skin tint that I’ve ever tried before! It is part skin care, part foundation – an absolute powerhouse of hyaluronic acid. This advanced formula of HA floods the skin with hydration, plumps and tightens fine lines and leaves your complexion looking youthful and radiant! This is a must have for anybody who suffers from dry patches, dehydrated skin and mature complexions."
