    • How to use

Use in the AM, apply liberally to face and neck as your last step after moisturizer. If a white residue is visible, this should usually absorb into the skin, allow 2-3 minutes for absorption before applying make-up. Use 15 minutes prior to sun exposure. Reapply frequently particularly if perspiring, swimming or towelling.

THE INKEY LIST SPF 30 Daily Sunscreen Reviews

    Disappointed
I was excited to use this because it has nice qualities and it’s affordable. I’ve been using this for ten days and I keep getting breakouts all over my face even though I cleanse my skin well. Besides that it would be a good product. So if your skin leans more on the oily side, try a different sunscreen. This is too thick for my skin and keeps clogging pores.
    Great SPF
Feels good on the skin, no white cast for me. One of the best SPFs I ever had.
    Travellers friend
Whenever I hit the beach I am always trying to find the best SPF for my face without causing the stinging eyes when I swim or leave me feeling greasy or anything like this. This came at the perfect time as I hit the beach for summer and was enjoying vacay mode. Not only does this kinda smell like sweet marshmallows for me but I love how it feels on my skin, the whipped formula really makes me feel protected without irritation, stingy eyes, and better yet I find I don't need to add on additional makeup to really get that holiday glow. Big fan!
    Wish I hadn't bought this
I don't like this product. I'm white and pretty fair-skinned and find the tint in the product is too dark, it makes me look yellow and makes my hyperpigmentation look worse. Secondly, it is thick and hard to spread on your skin. Thirdly, you can feel it on your skin all day, it's like a rubbery feeling. Fourthly, it pills. Overall, difficult to use and not very pleasant.
    Very ‘There’
I’ve never tried a mineral sunscreen before, and as a guy, I’ve never worn make up so I’m not used to the feeing of products ‘sitting’ on my skin. I just felt as if I had a coating on my face the entire day and whenever I touched my face ended up putting greasy finger prints on everything. It’s a thick, heavy cream although being tinted it did give my under eye area some slight coverage and made me look less tired, but I couldn’t wait to take it off way before the end of the day. Completely unwearable for me unfortunately :-(
    Disappointed
Was really excited to find an SPF with UVA & UVB protection, a good level of zinc-oxide, and no white cast. But it feels so thick/cakey! Doesn't sink in well, and I need to wait at least 15 mins after application before trying to put even a little light make-up on top. Not for me sadly.
    Great benefits for the price
I absolutely love this sunscreen. I haven’t seen such a high zinc content in any high end sunscreens. Applied it to a burn from a Curling iron and it helped nicely. I gave it 4/5 as I was hoping for a dewy look. Otherwise great and travels well too.
    Great formula
Easy to apply. No white cast and soaks into the skin easily. No smell and the best bit is, it is not greasy. Will buy again. Highly recommended.
    Brilliant!
This sunscreen is sooo good. Goes on like a dream and the tinting means it’s very wearable. I often wear this without make up over the top, it’s that good. Gives a lovely glow too. Also sits really well under make up. Will be repurchasing
    Worst SPF I've used
Honestly very disappointed with the SPF. I found this really drying even on oily combo skin. As well as this, It does not work well under make up and makes my concealer incredibly cakey and pills off when you touch it. The SPF is also not sweat proof and would move and crease in any fine lines and leave a nasty orange ring around my neck.
    Obsessed
I have an olive skin complexion, and this was perfect because it did not leave a white/grey cast whatsoever. Would highly recommend to anyone, regardless of skin tone.
    Great quality sunscreen
I was really impressed with this product. It is a light beige colour and I found this really useful so you can see where it is going on your skin. The colour disappears as you rub it in but it absorbs well and leaves the skin smooth and well moisturised. I used the Polyglutamic acid afterwards and felt the sunscreen gave a good base for this to be applied on top. I have combination skin with sensitive and break-out prone areas but this sunscreen felt gentle on my skin and didn't leave any residue. I will definitely be purchasing again.
    Great
I’m middle eastern with olive skin and it worked for me even considering how generously I apply this sunscreen but I do realize that this sunscreen will not work for every skin tone. It’s also not too greasy or heavy for my oily skin. This sunscreen has quickly become a favourite of mine
    Didn't live up to expectations
I was really excited to try this SPF, but I struggled with it. The colour gave off a white-ish cast on my brown skin and it was difficult to get it to absorb. I also found that it pilled under my foundation. I will probably just use it as a body SPF and find something else for my face.
    Had higher expectations...
I'm not very fair skinned at all but this sunscreen was too dark for me, and looked like I was wearing a foundation, definitely not lightweight. I doubt it blended well into all the skin tones as advertised 'like wearing nothing'. Furthermore, the tube is quite small for how much you're paying, and if using the right amount of sunscreen on a daily basis it will run out quite quickly.
    SPF 30 SUNSCREEN
I like this sunscreen very much!! It doesn't leave a white film on the skin and is very moisturising. I have combination skin and am very oily on my T-zone but my skin hasn’t been as greasy unlike other sunscreens that I have tried.
    Great.
    I love it !!
Great spf... if you are rich
The product itself is pretty great. It doesn’t leave a white cast and I can easily put it on my eyelids without crying throughout the day. However, there are a few things that I don’t like about this sunscreen. 1) it doesn’t have a flip cap. This makes it awkward to apply in public as you have to put the lid down somewhere. 2) it doesn’t have a UVA star rating, although I’m sure it has great protection against UVA as it contains 22% zinc oxide. But I would like to be reassured with a rating system. 3) I would only frequently cover my whole face with this sunscreen if I was rich as it came to £18.95 per bottle including shipping. This is £37.88 /100ml. While the Garnier Ambre Solaire Sensitive advanced SPF 50, 5 star UVA boots rating is only £4.00/100ml as Asda
    Perfect!
Love this product! It blends so perfectly and makes my skin look flawless all day, no need for make up with this.
    Love it!
I used to use Suntegrity for about ten years but the shades were never consistent so I had to find an alternative. I'm so glad I bought this! It's glowy on my medium 54yr old skin, without looking like an oil slick and accentuating every pore. I had thought the colour looked a bit 'cool' for me, but it definitely doesn't show on my skin...it looks very natural. The texture of the product is great, too. Spreads really easily and settles perfectly. I'll definitely buy this again. It's great, and a LOT cheaper than most.
    Love it!
I’m dark skin, and this leaves no white cast. However it is quite small, but I knew that when I bought it.
DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE MEDIUM TO DARK SKIN
I'm dark-skinned. I just bought this and I'm truly disappointed – it leaves a terrible, terrible, white cast over your skin that doesn't go away. The pictures above that show dark skinned people wearing this is terribly misleading. I'm truly disappointed in Inkey List and Cult Beauty for not marketing this product honestly.
    My favourite SPF
I have been using this for a few days now. I absolutely love it! I have always avoided using SPF because it makes me breakout, but I know I have to protect from sun damage. This is a game changer. It doesn’t leave that white cast plus it is great for my oily skin. No breakouts and makes my skin feel soft and lovely.
    Very impressive
It's just arrived. I've just put it on to check if there is a cast. I'm Fitzpatrick 4/5. This leaves no white cast!!!! At most there is a slight pearlesent blur. For a 100% mineral sunscreen I'm pleasently surprised. I have tried dermalogica invisible physical defense SPF 30 which claims to leave no cast but it does for £30 it's no good for darker skin tones at all. Fortunately it was a sample. This is definitely impressive on first try.
    Amazing!
Received this as a gift, I loved the texture underneath makeup it sits perfectly and doesn’t break up your makeup! It doesn’t leave streaky white marks or a residue. Is a really good everyday spf!
    Loved the texture.
This sun cream is amazing. I have very sensitive skin so I’m typically wary of trying new products. However, having great experiences with other inkey products, I decided to give this a go. The texture was lovely and my skin felt so soft after applying this product. I wouldn’t say it left white marks, thanks to it being tinted, but it left a glare/shine. I personally didn’t mind it and it blended well with my make up.
    White cast
Left a horrible white cast on my face all day, threw it away after 1 use. Not brown/dark skin friendly
    CLOGGED MY PORES
If you have trouble with congested skin. Stay away from this product! I always double cleanse. However the day after using this product for 3 days. My entire face had clogged pores. Highly disappointed.
    White cast
I was expecting this product to be a wonderful sunscreen for darker skin tones, especially because it is tinted. However, the product left a prominent white cast on my face and body after I used it. I am very unhappy with the product and actually ended up throwing it away after that first use.
    Mineral sunscreen without white cast
The Inkey List has taken great steps to be as transparent as possible in terms of what is in their products, what they do and how to use them. Their packaging is a well of information. The sunscreen itself is a thick tinted cream, that spreads easily on the skin. Tint really helps with a white cast as there is none, and Shea butter in the formula keeps it from being drying. After Wha minute it will dry to a matte finish providing a slightly blurred effect on the skin. It plays well with most make-up. I think people with normal to oily skin will enjoy this in particular due to its matte finish.
    solid product
This SPF wasn't really what I was expecting but is still a good product. First of all the product is smaller than I was expecting and as a daily use item, my concern would be it running out too quickly. Secondly the colour. I have used other mineral SPF claiming to leave no white cast, but this has a very different appearance and texture. it is much less fluid and a sort of tan colour. as someone who is white as a sheet of paper, this was a big concern for me. however after application, it dries down, and to my eyes is completely unnoticeable. I remain not orange, so for any pale people with concerns, I would say go for it. As for efficacy, I've worn it on numerous very sunny days, while spending hours outside and remained unburnt, so its a thumbs up there. All in all, I would recommend this product but would appreciate a larger size.
Tried so hard to give a 5 but I can’t
Tried it out for a few weeks before this review because I really wanna give this one a chance. I thought I’d found a new fave in this sunscreen but it’s still not the best one for me. Pros: Cheap, tinted (my skin gives off a lighter shade under a bright light though but blends after), thick and dewy on my skin which I could feel throughout the day. Cons: There’s this weird smell which I couldn’t get used to no matter what. And for some reason, my skin becomes a little darker after it absorbs everything. I have to put on more base just so I could get back to my normal tone.
    This is the one
I have tried over 20 sunscreens and find that even the matte ones end up looking oily under make-up within a couple of hours. However, this one is a game changer! Goes on matte without a white cast and then stay matte under my make up. Just dreamy - it’s take me a long time to find this!
    reef safe and good!
I found this looking for safe SPF that were 100% mineral, no oxybenzone or homosalate, and stuff. I do like it, its got a good amount of SPF for me and doesn't leave a white cast on my skin because of the tint (FYI my skin is light olive tone, combination). It doesn't feel greasy going on at all and my skin isn't any oiler during the day because of it. It hasn't broken me out either which is a bonus. A good price and will purchase again. I am concerned about plastics, however, and while I can't find a plastic-free alternative I'd like to see a higher recycled plastic content in this packaging.
    it’s ok
I like the way it feels and how it makes my face feel after apply it. but it leaves a very noticeable white cast for me which is expected for a product with zinc oxide. I recommend it but there’s a cost of white cast
    Not great for darker skintones
When this was initially launched INKEY LIST were promoting the sunscreen with the image of a multicultural group of people all wearing the sunscreen so I was excited to try this as someone with deep dark skin (Fenty 450). Unfortunately, this did not live up to its claims, it leaves a white/grey cast after applying which makes it impossible to wear on its own but manageable once covered with makeup. Really disappointed with how this has been marketed, I was looking forward to an affordable, mineral sunscreen that was suitable for darker skin but this was not it. The only positive is that it applies matte and does not get oily through the day which is a godsend for someone with very oily skin, that alone is worth the 2 stars.
    Good for fair skin
I find the colour of this blends in well to my fair skin tone - it looks like I have a tinted moisturiser on and minimizes the appearance of my pores. It does have a heavy feeling - you can tell you have something on your face, but no more than if you are wearing foundation etc. I like the matte effect it gives personally and would recommend to anyone similar toned to me, however can’t comment for those with darker skin. The only thing I would change is for the main tube to be made of more recyclable plastic as 30% isn’t a lot....
    Not a fan
It applies nicely but I can feel it a bit heavy on the skin all day. One thing I can't pass by is the fact that this tint is not noticeable on the skin but definitely transferes and staines the white clothes.
Thick and leaves a white cast
I am medium asian skin toned and I got this after the reviews said it doesnt leave a cast on the skin. It does. Skin looks unhealthy after using this. And its thick too.. I badly wanted to like this physical sunscreen but I guess ill go back to the supergoop. Pass..
Good mineral sunscreen for darker skin tones.
Just tried this. A good mineral sunscreen for my Fitzpatrick 4 skin. On the first application you couldn’t tell I was wearing something although in direct morning light there was the lightest of whitening, but again not like I was wearing something. On my second application of the day you could easily see a white cast. So not great if you’re apply it twice in one day. But oh god this was difficult to get off. I did a double cleanse with the inkey cleansing balm and then Paula’s choice foaming cleanser and there was still a lot left in my stubble and and hair line and forehead. Considered doing a triple cleanse but just wiped the excess with a wet cotton pad. Going forward I’ll use this once a day as my first application of sunscreen and then later as a top up I’ll use a chemical sunscreen. Overall it’s good and my second favourite mineral sunscreen. I’ll keep buying it as it’s a very good price for a mineral sunscreen in England.
    Very impressed
I’m very impressed with this sunscreen. It comes out a light beige color but the moment you rub it in, the color completely disappears. I have fair skin and I can’t notice it at all. It sank right in and didn’t feel heavy like other mineral sunscreens. It also wasn’t shiny at all. I was able to apply it around my eyes without any irritation which is very rare for me as my eyes are very sensitive. I removed one star because I wish it came in spf 50 rather 30 , also I did feel like my pores were a little more visible when worn under makeup. I might definitely repurchase.
    Better than expected...
I’ve struggled in the past with tinted sunscreens because of my combination skin, esp with sebaceous filaments on my nose. This sunscreen goes on really well and, while I can ‘feel it’ on my skin, everytime I check the mirror it looks great, a healthy matte finish and non chalky. Definitely one to keep in my routine. Would love to see a bigger tube and SPF50 version but expect it would hit chalky territory with that. Still a keeper though!
    rosacea approved!!
So I'm light - caucasian - skin type with rosacea, super sensitive and all chemical spfs cause my condition to go wild... This product is not irritating on my skin and I can stay in the sun without turning red or any flare-ups. It goes on nicely and doesn't dry out my face during the day. My tip is to apply right after your moisturizer for a better slip, spreadability and even application. If you are sweating a lot, there will be white drips emerging, however this is to be expected from a 100% mineral block. In general - I'm loving it much!!
I really loved how its a mineral SPF as you don't find many on the market
Doesn't leave a white cast, doesn't look oily on skin, sits well under my makeup and its affordable. Really impressed by this product :)
    Works for me...
I have combination skin that cranks up the oiliness in the summer, but have enjoyed going barefaced during lockdown. I apply this as the last step in my routine, and while I can ‘feel’ it on my skin, everytime I check the mirror I’m surprised to see how great the finish is. No oil slick, no pilling and nothing is melting off. Great job!
Too dark for very fair skin
I’ve had to knock a star off due to it being too dark for very fair skin. I’m very fair and when applying the correct amount of spf it is too dark for me. Such a shame as the formulation is beautiful and does look and feel lovely on the skin. I really hope the shade range is expanded to be more inclusive for both ends of the colour spectrum.
    So disappointing
The good thing is it doesn’t leave a whitecaste as it’s tinted. But I found it so so drying to the skin - like putting on a clay mask! It also leaves a flakey film on the skin all day and additionally it doesn’t smell great. I usually love The Inkey List products but I won’t be purchasing this again. Really disappointed.
    Incredible
I can’t believe how good this is! I have very oily skin. I have struggled to find a high spf sunscreen which doesn’t leave me shiny or leave a white cast and I’ve finally found it. Would 100% recommend for anyone.
    Great SPF!
I received this as a gift & having used a few Inkey products already I had high hopes - it didn't disappoint! I must admit I was a little hesitant at first when I saw the colour as I'm quite pale and thought I'd end up looking oddly tanned but it blended really well and I wouldn't have even known I had SPF on. It left a nice matt finish - I'm not a big make-up person so it stopped the need for any powder to take away the usual shine from an SPF (added bonus!). Definitely a go to for me from now on!
Lightweight and not greasy at all, love it!
I received this product as a gift and I can honestly say I’m really impressed with it. The texture is amazing, it’s so lightweight and doesn’t leave a greasy texture unlike most SPF moisturisers do. It almost feels like a primer due to the ‘pearly’ feel it has, so a perfect base for makeup too. It also has a slight tint to it so it blends into the skin really easily. Definitely would recommend.
