THE INKEY LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm

THE INKEY LIST Oat Cleansing Balm Reviews

Nice cleanser, feels good on the skin and is very affordable. Only downside: I really hate the scent. I like my cleanser scentless or with a pleasant smell, but this one just smelled like a bag of dry porridge. Would buy it again, if the smell was better...
Not bad, but not the best either
I actually don't know what I was expecting but this wasn't it. It actually appealed to me as a mask rather than a cleanser, but hey a double-duty product is always welcome. Firstly it's not a bad price for the amount you get, I've paid far more for far less. The packaging is as you'd expect, functional. I shook the bottle vigorously to ensure the product was mixed. The product itself is actually quite thick and didn't easily come out of the tube which is good. Nice texture but I felt quite greasy, emulsified nicely between fingers. I confess I slapped a thick layer on with the intention of using as a mask, then left it on for about 30 minutes, not the 10 it states. I expected to see patches where the product had sunken in as I am on the dry side and my skin drinks up everything, I didn't. I then removed with a hot cloth. Skin looked dewy and felt nice, and yes there was a film on the skin, almost waxy, but this didn't bother me as I use balms constantly. I then finished with the usual creams etc. So is it any good? Well as a mask I didn't rate it that much, I prefer something thicker and a bit meatier, as a cleanser probably a bit better, it's mild, soft and gentle and not bad but to be honest it doesn't make me want to part with my Elemis cleansing balm which I feel leaves my skin in better condition. Sadly I probably won't repurchase.
Excellent Oil Cleanser for Double Cleansing
I stumbled across this cleanser as I was looking for a more thorough oil cleanser step in my evening double cleansing regimen. Goes on smooth but with enough weight to make you feel like you aren't just rubbing oil on your face. After a short time using, my complexion definitely has less breakouts and I feel like my hyperpigmentation is clearing up even more quickly. Definitely worth it and is a staple in my routine!
    Like but not perfect.
Leaves the skin with a layer that feels moisturising, however, if you want to remove your eye make you have to use the other product, I have too many products and would rather have an all in one cleaner! But good for the price point.
    Nothing special
The balm is thick and spreads nicely, but it really leaves the skin with a layer of product and can only be washed of with a muslin cloth. Sort of. You can still feel it on your face even after using the cloth, until you do a second cleanse. They write to follow with a serum, which literally sounds like a waste of serum, as nothing would be able to sink in, with just this as the only wash. The scent of it (even though it is fragrance free) is also not exactly appetizing. All in all, not really enjoying the first cleanse expirience with this one.
    Great First Cleanser
I really enjoy using this cleanser, it goes on really smoothly, is nice to massage into your face and I've found that it takes off makeup and sunscreen really well. I haven't really found that it leaves much of a film but I always second cleanse with a water-based cleanser anyway.I've never had the problem of not being able to get the product out of the tube, if anything, for me the balm sometimes separates into balm and oil and runs out too easily. I found that shaking a few times before squeezing out solves this. Also the amount that you get for the price is unreal. This has lasted me 3 months, using every single evening, and will probably continue for a bit longer.
    Excellent for sensitive skin
I had an extremely bad reaction to another skincare product and didn't know how to handle the situation. I'm a long term lover and user of another balm product on the market but have always found the texture so thick I needed to rub at my face with a flannel to remove the product - not ideal when your face is covered in burning red patches!! The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm is verrrrry gentle and rubs off far easier. So much so I'm able to wash away simply with my hands and water in the shower. Much to my surprise, it's also helped to balance the oil production in my face (I usually have an extremely oily t-zone and dry cheeks) and I like that it's an all-round fuss free product. I will definitely repurchase when I run out, however I don't know how long away that will be as it's a very large tube for the price. 4 stars because I physically wasn't able to squeeze out the product with my hands for the first 5 uses (I had to place the tube between my knees to get anything out). After this there seemed to be more oil in the product which means I no longer face this struggle. Something to bare in mind if you're like me and don't have a lot of strength in your hands due to a health condition.
The product is good but the packaging is terrible
I love the product and think it’s great but the packaging is awful, it took about 5 mins to actually squeeze any product out on my first use. It’s gotten easier but I still struggle to get the product out. The pricing and product are great but the inky list please put it in a tub or something.
The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm
I think it´s a good product (not irritant for my very sensitive skin at all except for a slight burning sensation in the eyes, but I read then that you are not supposed to use it on the eye-area anyways), BUT it doesn´t come off as well as I would like. Others might love the film that stays on the skin (you can also use the product as a mask), but after rinsing the balm off it feels exactly like it did before the rinsing. Therefore I am not sure if it really eliminates all sunscreen etc. (I don't use makeup). I think it is a very good first cleanser. But the description suggests that it can also be used as a single cleanser and I am not sure about that. Will buy it again anyways because for a double cleanse it´s really good!
    Best oil cleanser EVER!!
The first step in my evening double cleanse. My skin is sensitive and reactive. This balm takes everything off including makeup. I massage into my face and neck...wet my hands and emulsify it on my face and neck and it rinses clean with no residue. My skin afterwards is baby soft. It was out of stock everywhere else so I had to buy another balm but once this got to me I went right back to it!! Looooooove it!
    Love it
This is a very hydrating cleanser but it works best as part of a 2 step cleansing process. I don’t know if it’s just a “me” problem but just that cleanser isn’t quite enough to properly clean all of my impurities. I don’t wear make up or anything but i workout a lot and so I have quite a bit of sweat and dirt built up.
    Perfect for me
I just love this cleanser. For either first or a second cleanse. Perfect for me as I really don't like scented products, and has never caused me any irritation.
    Gentle but effective cleanser
I like balm cleansers & this is a lovely one. It effectively removes face make up apart from eyes. I use on slightly damp skin & remove with a soft cloth & warm water. My skin feels soft and soothed after use and I have a mature very dry skin. I would prefer if it came in a pot instead of the tube. Good value for money.
    Great balm cleanser
Was recommended to me by a skin guru and has not disappointed. It’s a great balm cleanser that gets makeup off but not overly drying so it feels gentle but effective. The best part though is the price and the size - such good value!
    Love it
Been using this as an evening cleanser for taking off all the day's grime and it is lovely. Glides onto the skin and rinses off to leave me positively glowing. Skin feels moisturised and not at all tight afterward. You only need a tiny bit so it should last for ages too.
    Brilliant product for double cleansing
I have oily skin with enlarged pores that at 41 years old also showing signs of age. I wear foundation most days and was recommended to try double-cleansing. I was wary of this product to start with as I have oily skin. I shouldn’t have been. It feels incredible and removes makeup so well. I follow with Inkey’s Salicylic Acid cleansing wash which removes any residue and leaves my skin so clean and clear but not tight or dry.
    Overall nice, but synthetic feeling
I like it a lot but the feeling on the skin is a bit "waxy", like Vaseline. I don't mind, but others may.
    Amazing gentle cleanser
This cleanser is amazing! It's gentle enough that it's suitable for most skin types apart from oily maybe, it also works as a double cleanse so it does an amazing job. I have normal/dry skin and this cleanser leaves my skin hydrated, clean and soft. Will be purchasing again!
This product is sooooo oily, it took two passes with a proper cleanser to get the residue off my face. Absolutely awful, I have no idea how it exfoliates its so slick. No problem getting it out of the tube though.
    Feels like high end!
Absolutely in love with this product. It removes all make up, even stubborn mascara, so so easily with zero irritation even on my sensitive skin. It's balm-like texture melts into an oil and is super nourishing. A little goes a long way and it's an absolute bargain. I highly recommend for both first and second cleanse, star product!
    Lovely cleanser
Luxurious and gentle on skin as long as you wet face first - so perfect as your second cleanse if double cleansing. A bit rough if you use dry but then it kind of works like an exfoliator. So win win.
Love so much about this cleanser
I am really loving using this cleanser. I think it is an absolute bargain for the price and is comparable to many other (higher priced) balm cleaners such as Eve Lom, Elemis, Emma Hardie which are amongst my favourites in this category. You get a massive tube that will last ages. The value for money is spot on! I love the slight grainy texture which gives a lovely, mild exfoliation. It is very easy to remove with a face cloth and doesn't leave any greasy residue as can sometimes be the case with such a thick balm. I haven't had any of the issues getting the product out of the tube as other reviewers. Might have something to do with the fact that I live in a warmer climate. The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is because of the smell. I can't make up my mind if it's fragrance free or has an odd oatmeal like aroma...
    Too strong for me
I liked the idea and I'm used to a lot of cleansing balms, but this one just takes away too much from my skin. Afterwards my face feels really dry and tight. Hopefully they decide to make a gentler cleansing oil in the future.
    Where’s the oats?
Value for money is great. No scent. Really thick, like so thick that it was really hard to squeeze any product out the tube. Soon softened, feels super nourishing and buttery, becomes milky with water and removes easy enough. Skin felt super nourished and no drying feeling at all. A much thicker, harder version of the Eve Lom cleanser. Great for dry skin.
    Give it a chance
I first opened this tube with such high expectations. So many gushing reviews! Sold out everywhere! Then when I finally went to try it, I could barely get any out! The balm that did come out of the tube was rock hard. No idea why. BUT - with time this resolved wonderfully and comes out easy breazy (maybe it was storage? Maybe it was room temp related?) Now that i can finally get it out of the tube in a smooth balmy texture, I love it. So soft and soothing. I even love the mild smell - I find it very comforting. I also love how massive it is for the price. Will deffo be repurchasing
    I like it
It's not bad. Does the job of melting away my makeup. I'm happy with it.
I really like this. It feels kind and cleans well.
This cleanser actually makes me look forward to washing my face in the evening. Make up comes right off, doesn't sting the eyes and leaves my skin smooth. I do have quite sensitive and dry skin and love that this leaves me feeling nourished rather than dried out.
It's like a first cleanse but on the instructions it says to Avoid contact with eyes so what's the point.. anyway, leave's such a film on the face that I feel like I have to then do another double cleanse with the second cleanser. feels like I'm washing off a thick honey mask or something..
A nice gentle cleanser but the packaging isn't great. Difficult to squeeze out at times, wish it came in a jar. The texture is very thick and needs to be removed with a damp washcloth to remove residue. I use it to melt off any SPF and makeup, then follow with a regular cleanse. Love the ingredients, super simple and calming for sensitive skin.
    Real good
Such a beautiful and calming balm. cleans everything but you need a second to cleanse or hot muslin if you are combo/oily. It could be better if it emulsified better and for my bottle, liquid and solid parts separate which is not ideal.
    Good balm cleanser
Very hydrating cleanser, quite nice texture, however I would not recommend it as a 2nd clease for oily skin since it leaves a but of grease on your face. I did use it as a 2nd cleanse because some of the reviews here said it could be used as this step. Make sure to wipe it off after you're done with washing. Smells a bit like this Bulgarian "dish" called "popara" which is just white bread in tea/hot water with sugar and feta cheese.
    The best
Lovely and oily when you rub it all over your face but wipes off perfectly clean with a wet and warm microfibre cloth. Takes all of my makeup off, including mascara and it’s so gentle -perfect for all skin types. My skin feels clean and soft! A must-have for everyone.
I love this product, I use it as the first step of my double cleanse and it gets rid of all the makeup. It also leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. For the price, it’s definitely worth trying and the results are great:)
    Pretty decent
It’s my go to Pre cleanse. It’s gentle on the skin and calming. It does melt quite a bit in the summer while my order balm doesn’t. It still works though.
    Must buy bargain profuct
I love this product, I’ve ordered it twice now as I’m so impressed with it. The smell isn’t the best & at first it feels like you’re putting Vaseline on your face but it’s all worth it as my skin absolutely loves it. I’ll definitely keep using this, it’s so good I’ve got my fiancé using it & we’re both loving the glow!
    Great 1st cleanse
Nice texture, removes make-up and spf in one go and cheap, what more can a girl want?
This cleanser is a dream for dry skin - It leaves the skin soft and nourished. Also the amount of product you get for the price is mind blowing. Honestly you can't go wrong !!!
    Lush cleanser for dry skin
I bought this as I knew oats are really good for helping heal some skin problems, as I have very dry, sensitive skin. There's a lot in the tube and it lasts ages, as you do only need a small amount! It's not bitty or chafing at all even though it's not perfectly smooth, it cleans every bit of makeup off nicely and doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or sore after. I'm definitely restocking when it runs out - which will be ages yet even though I use it daily. Love it!
    Blissfull Balm
Absolutely love this. Not only does it cleanse but it leaves your skin feeling moisturised too. It is a balm so has a slightly oily feel but that is the point! Reminds me of a Decleor product I've previously used but at a fraction of the price. Well done Inkey x
    Easy Breezy Cleanser
I've tried a few higher end cleansers and prefer this one. Great product, price point & quantity. Also cleans off make up really well as part of a double cleanse.
    Amazing and a fantastic price
Don't have anything bad to say. It's amazing and not drying at all like many cleansers are. I use this product as the first step to my double cleanse
Im back to up my rating!!!
I reviewed this almost immediately I was so impressed and needed to share the love with everyone. I'm back after repurchasing for the second time to five it a full 5 stars!!! It's now my new all time fave cleanser/ mask. It's such a good price too! I find it is really nourishing for my combo dehydrated skin I use both am and pm with an extra thick layer that I leave on for a while whilst in the bath. So good!
    Inkey Oat Cleansing Balm
My skin is sensitive and prone to redness. This cleansing balm is very gentle.
    On the fence
My skin is older, reddened, thin, with blackheads and open pores, it is oily but can be dry. I like a cleansing balm and have used many over the years. This is a thick, balm with some slight graininess. It has no fragrance. It is easy to move around the skin and it does break down makeup. When water is added it becomes a thick cream. The tube is soft flexible plastic, but it does need a bit of elbow to squeeze it out in a cold bathroom. I am not sure that it is right for my skin, I think that the oat bits whilst quite soft with no hard edges are just a bit too much for my skin and I notice that when I don't use this, my skin is happier. I think if one can tolerate this albeit slight texture then fab, but for those with a more sensitive/reactive/redness prone skin it may be a bit much. I like it but not for everyday makeup removal.
    Great product
This is a fantastic cleanser. All makeup was gone, and it feels lovely on the skin. It also washes off effortlessly and doesn’t leave any weird residue. Only reason it got 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the packaging. This is a proper balm and as such is difficult to squeeze from a tube, please repackage this in a pot. Definitely be repurchasing this
