Briogeo - Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Quinoa Co-Wash

Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Quinoa Co-Wash Reviews

    my curls love this
This is definitely a product for curly hair people (3-4 types) in need of moisture. I don't shampoo my hair often because it leaves my curls dry, undefined, and frizzy, but this cowash doesn't do that. Just get a scalp massager from amazon and use it with the cowash to make sure your scalp is as clean as it can be and this will be perfect.
    Amazing product for curly hair
I loooove this product, it’s absolutely amazing! I’ve 2c-3a curls and dry scalp and this product is an absolute must for my curls. I wash my hair with shampoo every one-two weeks but my scalp can get pretty irritated and itchy between washes and this co-wash seriously saves my scalp and rehydrates my curls. I’ll use this all over my hair and really work it into my scalp, it has a kind of weird texture at first but you just really have to massage it in, then I just leave for about 3-5 minutes in my hair and either I’ll just leave it at that and wash it out or I’ll use a conditioner and give my hair a little extra something something.
    Finally understand this product!
I used to use this last year or two years back as an actual shampoo which made me go "meh" because it didn't do much on my fourth-day hair. BUT!!!! As I started working out 4-5 times a week and my scalp gets sweaty (I'm not gonna use the Briogeo Scalp goodness shampoo every wash - I do so every week or every other week) and this co-wash works wonders as a post workout cleanse! Love it so much! It nourishes, detangles and gently washes my hair. I usually use it twice in the shower and I leave the second wash in for a bit and put it on my scalp and ends while I wash and it is just amazing! I'm so happy I gave it another shot because it really saved my hair.
    Does Nothing
This shampoo did nothing for me. Moreover, it leaves a weird layer on my hair no matter how much I wash it. Doesn't ever make me feel like my hair is clean when I use it. Definitely wouldn't recommend for thick hair. Also feel like it dried my hair out even when I used a thick conditioner and hair treatment beforehand. Really weird. Would definitely not repurchase.
This shampoo + CGM are meant to be
A few months ago, I started the Curly Girl Method (CGM) with fine, shoulder-length, bleached and heat-damaged hair. Since I was used to my hair getting greasy the day after washing it, I resisted the idea of co-washing, which the CGM recommends, as I assumed it would never feel clean. Since this product is a hybrid of shampoo and conditioner, I decided to give it a try. And now I'm ordering my second bottle. Yes, it doesn't lather, and you need quite a lot of it. But co-washing also works by really getting in there and massaging the product into the scalp and lengths of the hair until all of the greases dissolves. My hair would usually tangle so badly while shampooing it, this gives instant slip and makes it more manageable and super soft. It also gives me an extra day of not having to wash my hair, because an oily scalp is often caused by it being dehydrated, and this product nourishes the skin as well. I'm convinced this would work just fine for straight hair since I've used it on the days where I don't go through the entire CGM-routine and let my hair air-dry into loose waves, or even heat-style it. Since I skip a lot of the other hair-products like creams and gels on those days, my hair stays clean even longer and I can wear it in a ponytail for two additional days without it looking greasy.
    Not what I had hoped
I heard a lot about this and I hoped for something extraordinary, but the fact is, that this product is just difficult to use. This product, if it's used correctly, does wash the hair and hydrate, but the problem is that there is too much in it ( 4 in 1) and this is more the consistency of a cream that doesn't lather. I know it's supposed to be this way, but I have really big heavy hair and its hard to spread this product to my entire scalp when it basically doesn't lather. I already tried using a lot of it and tried using it with more water, but the water washes away what is on the surface and i can't spread it properly. After a long time, trying to spread the product and massage it into my scalp, it's time to rinse. And then arises another problem - it doesn't wash out easily. I had to rinse my hair for a fair amount of time to rinse the product out of my hair and when i dry it, sometimes I feel like it's becoming greasy really fast (a sign that it wasn't rinsed properly). So after a tiring washing of my hair with a huge amount of this product and rinsing it for a significant amount of time, I feel like the amount i get is too little (if a have to use so much of it every time, especially if the hair is long and thick) and the price is too high for such an experience. Also it's very time and energy consuming, If you need a quick morning shower, this is a bother, but if you are willing to stand in a shower for an hour just washing your hair and you have thinner hair, this may not be as bad.
    Trial and Error
I have thick (technically I have thin strands but I have a lot of them), slightly wavy hair, with a sensitive scalp and dry ends. I love this product but I’ve taken a star off because it took some trial and error to get it to work for me. When I use it, my hair feels clean, soft, and far less frizzy. I’m pretty convinced that I can go longer between washes as my hair seems more manageable. I enjoy the smell - I can’t describe it but it’s soft clean scent. It has completely removed the need for conditioner as well. However, and the reason for four stars, I didn’t like it the first time. It doesn’t lather much so I find it doesn’t get through all my hair to the underside and when I was using it for the first few times, those bits still felt dirty even after showering. I now make sure to deposit the pumps around and under my hair before scrubbing. I also don’t find, even with two washes, it does a great job of cleaning very dirty hair. In those cases, I usually use another shampoo first and come back in with this for a second wash. It wasn't loved at first use but I’ll definitely be buying another bottle as it works wonderfully for me now.
Tried a sample, used twice and loved the results. Shiny and clean hair without an itch. Great ingredients, no sulfates or paraben's or harsh chemicals. Ordered the full size can’t wait to use it. If you gym everyday, you will like this. This is a shampoo and conditioner in one sort of product. Highly recommended.
I have a long, non dyed, wavy hair. After every wash my hair was super tangled, and brushing would pull out a lot. This product leaves my hair super soft and moist, no nots anymore. Will definitely repurchase.
    Not for me
I washed my hair with it and after I was done showing and dried my hair it looked so dirty and oily, had to rewash. I have a soft curly hair that has been treated with botox so its straight.
    LOVE it
I have a very oily scalp and thick straight hair. I also live in a tropical climate (hot and humid 24/7). I wash my hair daily. I decided to take a chance on this product because I was desperate to find a product that would cleanse my hair without stripping it. I've been using this product for 3 weeks now and I LOVE IT. This is how I use it: 5 pumps (1 pump for each section of my scalp). Rub the product into my scalp thoroughly. Add a little water to my hair to emulsify the mixture and massage my scalp again. In all, I think I'll spend perhaps 5-10 minutes just massaging my scalp and slowly adding water. Finally, I rinse my head until the water runs clear. I do NOT follow with a conditioner (but I do use a leave-in conditioner after drying my hair). Yes, I can still feel some product left on my hair afterwards, but it actually leaves my hair so soft. And amazingly, my scalp does NOT get any oilier than if I had used a normal lathering shampoo. Also, I notice that I shed less hair with this product.
    Not worth the trouble
Such a weird product. Whenever I use it, my hair is greasy the minute it dries even though I've thoroughly washed it through. The "shampoo" aspect of it is not strong enough to actually clean your hair and the "conditioner" aspect of it is useless 'cause if I don't use another conditioner over top, the ends of my hair feel like straw even though I have pretty healthy hair. There was only one time when I used it that my hair wasn't greasy after but I didn't do anything differently and the next time I used it the same way and it made my hair unbearably greasy. I'm still gonna use it until it finishes but honestly I'd just rather use a shampoo that will at least do the bare minimum and leave me feeling clean. Bring back the Don't Despair, RepairQ conditioner to Cult Beauty!
    In love
Read a lot of great things about this brand from the curly girl community. Originally bought a small pot of don’t despair repair treatment mask, which I love, so went ahead and bought this co-wash. Incredibly impressed, and will definitely repurchase. Looking forward to trying the rest of the Briogeo family. I have naturally curly, high porosity, thin hair.
    Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't
I have medium length, wavy to curly hair. Sometimes I feel like "wow!!! after using this my hair looks so AMAZING!!" other times it's "meeeeh, I'm not getting this again" I usually wash my hair with the co-wash when I don't want to dry out my hair too much or in-between washes. For me, it works best on second or third-day hair, it doesn't do much on my fourth to fifth-day hair because I have to use a regular shampoo right the other day.
    Hated it
It completely dried up my hair and made it a lot frizzier than usual. It took me several times of applying, massaging and rinsing the shampoo for it to feel like it did anything. Maybe that process aided in drying my hair, but it felt like you need to reapply it more than once to get any result. My hair is between wavy and curly, with a sensitive scalp. I had high hopes for this product but I didn't enjoy it at all. :(
I have shoulder-length, thick, dark Asian hair that's slightly wavy. I had quite a number of samples laying around so I gave it a go and it was definitely an interesting experience. I'd say that because I've been so used to a lather (and therefore by extension, lather = clean) that I wasn't used to using such a large amount of product in my hair. My hair felt great and I think we're probably too predisposition on how the shampoo experience is. I'm not sure if it's a change I'd like to take on board in my haircare routine but it sure didn't hurt and my hair felt the same as with regular shampoo. I just prefer doing a good lather at the end of the day.
    A waste of money
After the first time, I thought that I must have misused the product. My hair was flat, still oily and lacked any fresh wash feel. So I went online and tried again using more pumps of the product (adding up to the recommended 8), same result except that the build up of oil has added. My hair is thin and straight, not a tough target for any shampoo. Complete waste. I then used the shampoo on my 6 year old daughter, I thought with children hair being untreated, healthy and shiny, the shampoo will work best..... NOPE,,, didn't work either, poor girl, she had to stay with her hair looking greasy and oily and sticking to her scalp all day in school. Very disappointed, I don't know if I got a bad batch, but I definitely won't be purchasing anymore products from them.
I have straightened my hair permanently so every time I shampoo it becomes dry so after buying it and using it for the first time I felt my hair soft and less dry and frizzy . Before I use to put hair serum but now I don't need it as it keeps my hair soft and I think it helps to remove hair dandruff as well which I have been noticing overall will recommend it.
This is my absolute favourite co-wash. The ingredients inside is what drew me in to buying this product. It leaves my hair feeling clean but super soft without stripping it, moisturised and it is great for detangling. It is not hard on my hair even if I use it multiple times a week.
