    • Why it's Cult

Now available in a deluxe-sized 'midi' of 10ml, this super-charged, silicone-free formulation features 1% retinol (it's potent!), alongside a fruit cocktail of extracts such as passionfruit, apricot, kale and winter cherry (not to mention firming peptides and essential fatty acids)! Promoting skin renewal and boosting collagen production, this intensive treatment minimises visibility of fine lines and dark spots to reveal vibrant, healthy-looking skin. Probably the most wanted skin care range ever, Drunk Elephant is worth the hype – and then some... Founded by Tiffany Masterson who wanted to formulate products without any ‘fillers’, this all-star collection is powered by biocompatible actives – a mix of synthetic and plant-derived extracts – that skin recognises and knows what to do with. And, because of their ingredient-elimination philosophy, you won’t find any of the following ‘Suspicious 6’ – drying alcohols, silicones, SLS, chemical screens, essential oils or fragrances/dyes – so you can ‘reset’ your complexion and help both your skin and your tresses to flourish like never before.

    • How to use

Apply a pea-sized amount or less to a clean and dry face. Limit initial use to once or twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night and then finally up to every night (as tolerated). Proceed with caution if you're sensitive or new to retinol - this may induce redness/irritation to begin with and you may incur some flakiness until your skin acclimatises. Avoid using the night before a big event/special occasion (unless you're already a retinol addict)!

Avoid applying to eye area and use a broad spectrum SPF during the day.

Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream Midi Reviews

    Gekauft
Hab nach Ersatz vom silikonhaltigen PC 1% gesucht, und gefunden! Der Preis ist heftig, daher werd ichs mir wohl erst zu Weihnachten gönnen I looked for a replacement for the silicone-containing PC 1% and found it! The price is steep, so I won't treat myself to it until Christmas
    Love it
Yes it is more expensive but has been worth it. Gone through a bit of a purge with the skin and now watching it even out, love this product. It doesn't leave my skin drying or flaking either which is fantastic!
    Drunk elephant
Best retinol I’ve tried & I’ve tried a few over the years from Paulas choice & Peter Thomas Roth, to the Ordinary & Tretonoin I brought when in Spain. (Really did not like that -very greasy)Too soon for results with this but forever the optimist. I like the texture & my skin is super soft the next day. I’ll buy DE again
    So far, so good........
Too soon to see any great improvements in skin, but product applies well and I have experienced no irritation. Fingers crossed that the reduction in wrinkles is on its way?
    Not bad
My first foray into retinol was with The Ordinary 0.5 in squalane. The retinol made a big difference to my skin but my oily skin hates squalane so I tried Sunday Riley A+. Absolutely love that, the texture and its effects. But, too expensive right now so I’m trying this one. Verdict: nowhere near as strong as they say, on skin that is used to retinol. I use it everyday and it’s fine. It works well enough but not sure I will repurchase. Serum? Meh. And both far, far too small.
    Meh
Glad these were only mini/trial sizes so I didn’t spend too much money to try them. Have no idea what the B-Hydra is supposed to do? It’s a bit sticky and made no difference to my skin at all. The A-Passioni, even when mixed with moisturiser burned my face. I was red and puffy for about a week after using once so will not be purchasing again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
    Deliciously decadent.
This feels utterly luxurious. A tiny amount goes such a long way! I don’t know how but maybe because it is sooo creamy. I use it neat and my skin feels great. Only been using it for a couple of months and not sure if it’s reduced wrinkles TBH but... because it is cruelty free, so lovely to use and only a small amount is needed, I will stick with this, regardless.
    Love this duo
I've been using this for about a month and I absolutely love both these products. My skin is generally dry and acne-prone and was initially worried that it may cause reactions but thankfully my skin had no irritations and I'm starting to see a difference in my skin texture and complexion. I used it as instructed - slowly building into my routine and now use it about 3 times a week. It was my first ever purchase from DE and the size of the products is a good way of trialing out for yourself
    Efficient and chemically elegant
Skin condition: oily and dehydrated, a little bit sensitive & acne-prone.How I use it: as suggested by the brand I mix it with B-Hydra serum, twice a week (all the others nights I use either glycolic acid or just a moisturizing lotion & a cream). How it worked for me: no irritation or visible peeling whatsoever, the skin is getting glower and better hydrated, no acne, just clear & well taken care of skin.
    Great Product
I am new to retinol so read through the reviews to see what the best way was to start with. I mixed a pea-sized amount with my moisturiser at night 2 times a week. I already saw the results in the morning. My skin was so glowy and smooth which amazed me. I then used it by itself. Just be careful as it can make the skin feel irritated so avoid delicate areas like the eyes. But it makes my skin look amazing especially when I apply my make up. Definitely recommend.
    Amazing!
This product is amazing, the first week or so I noticed slight peeling around my chin and cheek area but nothing massively concerning. I’ve used every other night since and my skin has never looked or felt so good. I suffer from acne scarring and the odd breakout and would recommend this product to everybody.
    Strong retinol
An effective product, however, it is very strong and needs to be careful how much you use. It's been months and I still use it twice a week and sometimes only once a week.
    Suitable for extra sensitive skin
I have an extra sensitive skin. I wanted to add the retinol product to my night time routine, so I started with this combo. I couldn't have chosen better. I experienced no irritation, no redness, dryness or flakiness at all. I use a pea size amount twice a week, only in the evenings for now and follow with Lala retro cream. Definitely will buy the full size of the product.
Good set for first time users of Drunk Elephant!
This set is absolutely perfect for someone wanting to try without paying full price for the full size items first. The A-passioni is a smaller version of the full size but will last me absolutely ages. Been using for around 3 weeks now and it barely looks like I’ve used any. It feels great on the skin but definitely let your skin adjust first before increasing usage; I still only use twice a week max as it can dry the skin out if not used to retinol. However the B-hydra serum doesn’t last 2 minutes in this size I would say I got around 4-5 uses of it using 2 pumps at a time, but that doesn’t take away the fact the serum was lovely and hydrating. Only thing to improve on this is the size of the serum bottle to see results for that product. Overall great set and the retinol is definitely helping my skin texture and acne.
    Strong retinol!
I am a fan of this stuff, it does the job and if you are not used to it then you should go easy. This is the closest thing to a silver bullet I've ever got - I don't think everyone's skin loves retinol but mine seems to react extremely well to it and it always leaves my skin looking better when I use it. I love the serum it comes with as well, it takes the edge off and is lovely and soothing. I definitely recommend it!
    Favorites.
Did order the B-hydra normal size after trying the mini. So hydrating. I have quite dry skin. I'm a beginner to rentinol, and loved this also. No irritations. Definitely ordering this in normal size too.
    Uau
I was SOO afraid to buy this because of the negative reviews... I really wanted to start retinol since I just stopped breastfeeding and I'm 33 with acne scars and some fine lines but my skin is very sensitive and dehydrated because of the chemical peels I have done and the AHAs I use but I had no bad reaction at all, I'm using twice a week yet with caution but so far I love it and my skin looks more even when I wake up! Also love the serum and will order full size !! Still too soon to tell but I'll update this in a few months!!
    amazing!
I have had acne pigmentation for a long time now and I have found that the retinol has definitely cleared and lightened the discoloration. Initially, it slightly irritated my skin but you have to use it in small amounts, roughly once a week then gradually increase its use. My complexion is now so much brighter, smoother and clearer and less texturised!!
    This burns!
I have used many different higher strength retinols. I don’t have sensitive or reactive skin. But even buffered and using once a week, my normal skin was angry and irritated, to the point where I couldn’t even touch my skin with a makeup brush. Agony.
    Amazing!
I heard this retinol was good but I could never imagine it was this good! I got this little travel size just to try it out, after two uses my skin completely changed, it was like a mirror, sooo smooth! It is intense, and it will make your skin a bit red and irritated and flaky at first especially if you have sensitive skin, but its all worth it trust me! Now I have purchased the whole big size and I’m so happy cause I got it 20% off, it's pricey but worth it!
    Definitely repurchase
I am 38. I had never used any DE’s product before. I have been using these two mixing together every other night for about a month now. Some fine lines on my forehead and under eyes have already gone and I feel that my skin is smoother.
    Certainly refines texture
I find this to be a nice, gentle but effective retinol. Feels nice and soft on the skin and does not irritate. Used a couple of times with the hydro gel (not sure if that makes that much difference?). A little of the retinol cream goes a long way, so I think this little tube is actually a good way to try stronger retinol. Certainly can see a more refined skin texture after using this.
    Smooth
Along with the hydro gel no irritation as generally perceived in case of retinol. Very smooth application without any peeling. I’ve been applying alternate days along with one pump of the gel. Skin is smoother the next day.
Great product, but not worth the $$
While it was a great way to start experimenting with DE products, the size of the B-Hydra was so incredibly small that I only got 5 uses out of it. For anyone who is considering this product, I suggest purchasing the full-sized product since both products are great and well worth spending extra bucks.
    Good product.
Good product! helped me to clean my skin of acne scars.
    Not sure
I think it’s too early to tell yet, I still need at least 1-2 days break in between uses as it’s strong, I can’t say I’ve noticed any difference in my skin other than slight evenness improvement. I’ve heard it can take 12 weeks to see improvements with retinol and I’ve used it for approx 5 or 6 weeks. Don’t get this thinking you’ll see results straight away!
    Its good!
I like it so far, a little strong but I guess my skin will get used to it:)
    Good product
When I got used to it (you have to get used to it, it is strong!), I really did see the difference! My skin looks amazing.
    Amazing!
It is a strong retinol so probably not recommended for vit A beginners. However, if you are used to retinols, you will love it! I could see immediate results - my skin looks like it's been photoshopped and even people around me are asking me what have I done to make it look this good. :) Little goes a long way so even though it's an expensive purchase, you will end up using just a little bit. Can only recommend!
Great trial size and worthy if you're used to retinols
First of all, I'm actually a prescription tretinoin 0.05 user, which is probably over 10x stronger than even the strongest over-the-counter retinol products (such as A-Passioni). Having sensitive skin, I've been building up with my tret use up to 3x a week over many years, so I didn't expect this DE retinol to be irritating with daily use. But it was. Therefore a word of caution- proceed carefully, 1-2 x a week and using in at first on completely dry skin, especially if it's your first retinol ever. After a couple of weeks trial, I found the best way to use it is 2x in a row at night, skip one night and then again 2x nights in a row. The result is beautiful glowing skin in the morning without any flakiness so it's ideal summer-time retinol for me. Since you only need to use a pea size for the full face and neck, this trial 10 ml will last you at least couple of months, which makes it quite cost-effective for strong OTC retinol users. Plus it has lots of beneficial ingredients (peptides, ceramides etc) yet no fragrance and alcohol which are both very irritating when retinol. I don't like B-Hydra and don't use it.
    Good sample size
Firstly, I really enjoyed the size of this product as it seemed much more affordable to first try out than the larger size. I’ve been used it once a week for approximately 2 months. Let me just say this is very strong retinol! I may have made the mistake of never having used any retinol products before and my skin did take a few weeks to adjust. I found that it did make my skin flake but nothing that caused any extreme irritation etc and because we are in lockdown I thought this would be the perfect time to try it out without anyone seeing me! I found that if you apply it last in your routine it would help stop it spreading to delicate areas like your eyes where I found it did cause irritation and flaking on my eye lids. I have yet to see any results in lines and wrinkles but my complexion the morning after using it a lot clearer. Using this as more of a preventative and hoping to build up to 3 times a week as that’s how much you need to use retinol for it to basically work and see improvement in your skin
    Game changer
Amazing stuff, really helps with acne and pigmentation/scarring. Better than AHAs and vit c I’ve tried though everyone is different. Need to let your skin get used to it as advised on the package. Good advice I received for it was once a week for 1 week, twice a week for two weeks etc. Liked the serum but you need to use a lot so for the price unsure if I will reorder. The retinol certainly will though you need such a small amount I think this size will last months!
    Worth it
I'm giving 4 stars because I didn't like the B-Hydra serum - it's too sticky and I feel it didn't do much to my skin. The retinol cream, however, is a great find. It's the first retinol product I've used and so far I'm seeing good results. For reference, I'm 28 and while I'm not struggling with many fine lines yet, I do have texture that I wanted to address. I've used the product 2 times - once every 4 days mixed in my face cream as I feel it would be too strong on its own. I've seen dramatic improvement in the texture around my cheekbones and my chin. It does dry out the skin but not that bad that it can't be handled with some face oil and regular moisturizing. The tube is only 10 ml but I feel that it could last me about 3 months if I continue using it once every 4 days. It's good value and lets you test the compatibility of the product with your skin. If all continues to go well, I will purchase the full size.
    Amazing product
I love the product, it can be sensitising to your skin if you apply twice a week specially if you have sensitive skin, but I would say it really does work. I would give it a 4 star.
    Hesitant at first...
I was super unsure of this as I’m an oily skin type, and creams don’t really do it for me if I’m honest! But as you’re only using it at night time, I don’t mind it that much! I really like how your skin looks in the morning; renewed and plumper! You need the TINIEST bit, literally a pea size - then smooth it over your skin. If you’re a beginner to retinol, then this is perfect for you to wean your way into it. I use mine 1/2 a week.
    Really potent and effective
I love the B hydra which I've tried before - but this was my first time trying DE's Retinol. I see a huge difference in my skin, but if you're new to retinol then only mix a tiny tiny drop with a rich moisturiser and only use once a week in the beginning as it's super potent. I use less than half a pea-size amount mixed in with a creme/moisturiser. The small bottle of retinol will last you a really long time if you're new to the game, so it's really good value for money.
    It works
I’ve been using various retinols by The Ordinary for over a year, but decided to invest in DE and try something stronger. First few times I used this my skin peeled, was red and itchy and very sensitive to any other products, even Hyaluronic Acid. I’ve been using it for around a month now, 3 times a week and my skin looks the best it has done in ages. Definitely needs a layer of the B-Hydra first to buffer, then a pea size amount of A-Passioni, and as a very dry skinned person, I follow up with a smoothie of Lala Retro and the marula oil. I wake up to firm, glowing skin.
    Difference seen from 1st use
I bought the mini as been so keen to try and was looking for a retinol upgrade. Wow! I used a tiny pea-sized amount mixed with a little of the B-Hydra and by the next morning, I saw and felt the difference in my skin glowy and smoother where I have texture issues. Plotting to buy the full size ASAP!
