Good sponge tool
This is durable, blends nicely when damp, feels good quality and is a good size. Sponges are harder to clean and dry than brushes I find which does make me worry more about bacteria but if you like sponges to apply makeup, this is a classic good option.

Better than a brush
This is the best way I've found to apply foundation as someone who struggles in the complexion department...it helps ensure you're not applying too much and blends fairly easily.
