I don’t have a cool anecdote about finding my love for beauty – I basically stumbled around during my fine art diploma until I found something that sparked excitement. Then, after getting paint all over my carpet (sorry mum), not to mention numerous failed attempts at sculpture, I decided to pick up an eyeshadow brush as opposed to a paint brush. It wasn’t until one of my lecturers mentioned I had a natural talent for painting faces that I even started thinking of a career in beauty and, having gained an unconditional offer to London College of Fashion, I enrolled and discovered how little experience I had compared to a lot of my peers; they had been to make up school, or were freelancing waaay before university, and here I was still learning how to ‘contour’ properly. It wasn’t until I met one of my favourite artists, Bea Sweet, that I realised I was doing exactly what I needed to – creating, exploring, experimenting (albeit sometimes a little too much) – and that my passion for make up and beauty was valid, even if it wasn’t necessarily commercially friendly or refined. I’ve since spent hours at my local library, broadening my beauty knowledge with the help of Helmut Newton, Nan Goldin, Val Garland and Kevyn Aucoin.

    The Essential Eye Palette

    My new go to palette!
I knew this palette would be great as I have always followed Jamie for her gorgeous artistry and aesthetic but it far exceeded my expectations in that I can't seem to reach for anything else recently! The colour theory is so versatile and flexible in the style of makeup you can create, from grunge to glam, 'snatchural' to full smoke. I have even used CIAO and COSY for a more editorial style blush and it was stunning on the cheeks. The mattes are a dream to blend, and the glimmers have a high intensity to them that really reflect off any light. My only feedback would be perhaps the glittery shades could be pressed slightly more compact to reduce the little fallout they have, but even so they're totally workable and have a high impact. The packaging is sleek, sophisticated, lightweight and compact. Perfect to travel and store efficiently. I'm so excited to see what else VIEVE launches, I can tell they're going to be a 'cult' favourite of mine.

    OUAI Haircare

    Detox Shampoo

The most divine smelling, squeaky clean shampoo ever!
This shampoo, along with the medium hair conditioner has been my most successful hair purchase yet. Firstly, it leaves my hair feeling so clean yet doesn't feel like it strips my hair of all its moisture like many 'detoxifying' shampoos can. Secondly, I have never enjoyed the scent of a product so much. The smell is so gorgeous - not overpowering - but enough that when I walk past the office door my partner will exclaim how fresh and lovely my hair smells as it glided over to his desk. The lather is so pleasing and really allows you to feel where you're massaging the product into. I shall definitely be purchasing the larger 900ml pack to refill my bottles. A new staple in my hair care routine.

    The Ordinary

100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

A little much too greasy for me
I really wanted to love this as I know so many do however, I really failed to see a noticeable difference in the hydration within my skin and the fading of any hyperpigmentation or scarring. I found it overly greasy even when using a small amount, and as much as it is a benefit to have no added fragrance, the natural smell is really off-putting. I think the product feels nice when it goes on, but I would maybe only use this oil as a facial massage oil that I then wash off after, rather than an oil I would leave to sit and soak in.

    Soy Face Cleanser

    A great gentle cleanser
I found this cleanser to be really soothing and gentle on my skin. The feel and smell of the product is really fresh and elegant. I would say this cleanser is best for no makeup days where your skin just needs that gentle cleanse at the end of the day to rid of any impurities and daily build-up, but it may be too gentle for avid makeup wearers like myself. I found I needed to double cleanse at least with an oil cleanser first and then this product. Having said this, I will definitely keep this product for those days where I am make up free and just need a non-stripping, non-drying, fresh cleanse. You just may want to double up on a second cleanser if you're like me and enjoy a full face of makeup regularly.
