Ideal for travelling

I was a little disappointed when I used it the first time - but that was only until I was done cleansing. My skin felt clean, plumped and smoothed. The cleansing oil is a bit boring to be honest but it does the job well. I really like the cleansing cream, it feels wonderful on my sensitive skin.

Great, but...

In terms of texture, it may seem a bit underwhelming for many: both products are thinner than expected. The oil is still effective to melt makeup off, but it lacks a bit of something to deal with heavier makeup. The cream isn't thick enough to feel like a balm, but your skin still feels clean and nourished after using it. The packaging is sturdy, no spills, but it's on the bulky side of the force. That being said, the formula on these made my skin improve immensely: I have hormonal acne, ageing skin, and texture concerns, and my skin felt really clear and smoother after a week of use. But, alas, the main problem: this cleanser duo costs 30€, but it will only last slightly over a month of nightly use. It is sadly extremely expensive when comparing to the "little goes a long way" of far more expensive balms that last me for months. I'm torn on this one, because my skin really loved it.

I've had this for less than a fortnight, and my skin has never looked better, felt cleaner, or been more glowing. Wholly recommend.

Brilliantly Effective, Supremely Functional

I was working abroad for 2 months and I took this product with me for my evening double cleanse. I had a separate tube of a different cleanser for the a.m. as a stand-alone, evening double cleanse product, it's brilliant. It does exactly what it says on the tin, or more accurately, the pot. The balm dissolves all make-up, including mascara and eyeliner. Remove that with your flannel, then go back in with the cream for a gentle second cleanse. Job done. Skin is clean but not dry and taut, and ready for your next step. No nonsense, very effective - much like Mrs Hirons herself. It lasted me two months no problems. I had about a week of use left when I came home, too. I work away regularly, and this is my new travel essential.

excellent no-nonsense cleanser

I'll say it right off the bat: if you are into experiential skin care, this is probably going to disappoint you. This product is scentless and simple, which is not what everyone is looking for. It is, however, what I want. I use this as directed, and I do think removing with a damp cloth provides the best result. I have dehydrated/sensitive skin, and I love how every time I use this I have clean skin that feels soft and hasn't been stripped of it's natural balance. That is really a rarity in this price range. I know people think it's priced high, but I do think if you look at it as buying two separate cleansers it's pretty reasonable. I like both sides, but to be frank the balm is less unique. It emulsifies quite well and does a pretty good job at removing makeup, but it still requires a bit of rubbing, meaning that I will still precede this with some form of eye-makeup remover so as to be as gentle of my eyes as possible. I'm not too experienced with cleansing balms but this one doesn't outperform any others I've tried. The cream cleanser is another story. My love for this stuff is unreal - if they sold it separately I would buy it in bulk with no hesitation. While still scentless (something I like), it is luxurious feeling on this skin, toweling off to reveal soft and moisturized (how??) skin. I think this products is perfect for three different categories: - Those who want a cleansing system that will simply deliver good results without any unnecessary frill - For skincare newbies who are learning how to take care of their skin and don't want to spend a fortune - For those looking for a way to condense the products in their routine for easier traveling. CH did not disappoint me in the least with this product, and am waiting impatiently for the day the cream is sold individually.

Great Product - But Pricey for the Quantity

I rate Caroline's skincare advice very highly indeed and, unsurprisingly, this is an excellent cleanser. The balm lends itself really well to makeup removal and facial massage, while the cream is soothing and moisturising without causing my combo skin to break out. That said, it only lasted five weeks of nightly usage – despite rationing it out carefully. At nearly €30 I would have to spend a fortune annually to continually repurchase it, hence not giving it a 5-star rating. Would warmly welcome an increased quantity of product, or a price alteration.

Not that Special

The oil is nice and removes make up ok. It does not remove eye make up and mascara at all and you will need to clean your eyes again with a cleanser. The cream is nothing special either. There are better products on the market.

Not bad but......

Couldn't wait to get my hands this cult product, does a half decent job of cleansing skin but I wished it was in a larger container. Bit hyped up for my liking.

Unique!

The first thing that strikes you about this cleanser is how incredibly 'plain' it is - no colour, no fragrance, and simple packaging. It's deceptively simple. And that's why it's great! As someone with hormonal, cyst-prone skin, I sometimes need a great balm or cream cleanser that isn't stuffed full of essential oils for when my skin is angry and just needs care and TLC. This does it for me and more. The balm is like Clinique's Take The Day Off balm - effective at getting rid of everything and leaves no residue. The cream is a comforting second cleanse that leaves skin soft and comfortable. Is it a spa-like product that feels luxurious? Not really. But the market is absolutely overrun with those. This is that cleanser you need for soothing, calming and, yes, cleaning your face. Thanks hugely, Caroline! Only quibbles are the size (too small) and the fact you are likely to work through one side quicker than the other. Would be great to buy standalone versions of each side.

It's OK. The balm melts nicely and takes make-up off. But it's nothing special. And then for me, the cream is just meh. It actually seems to sink into my face for some reason, which isn't quite what I expect for a cleanser (and not anything I've experienced with any other). It's all a bit utilitarian and doesn't leave my face feeling as wonderful as many other cleansers do. I'd thought it would be handy for travel, but in addition to the problem others have pointed out of one running out sooner than the other. It's actually in quite a weighty thick container, presumably to give a luxury feel, but for me, it detracts from its potential usefulness. I won't be re-buying.
