Great physical sunscreen

5

I've repurchased this sunscreen 3 times now - it definitely gives good sun protection and I've never burnt wearing this. I agree with other reviewers that the texture is odd - however I do still like the formulation. I can't find any other sunscreen with such a clean ingredient list and without any acne-causing ingredients. A lot of sunscreens break me out - this one doesn't. It's also really hard to find a physical sunscreen without fragrance so I love that this one is fragrance free. It does leave a slight white cast even on my skin (fair-light), which I expected as I've never found a physical sunscreen that doesn't. I mix with a bit of D-Bronzi to take away the white cast. It also leaves a bit of a shine which I personally like as I have dry skin and like a dewy look. Unlike other reviewers, I've never had any problems with pilling - however I don't wear make up so I can't comment if it works well underneath make up. Overall, I think this is a great sunscreen - it's a shame about the grainy texture but I don't personally find it a problem since it still applies nicely to the skin.

Very disappointed

I was really looking forward to trying it and I am very disappointed. Very difficult for the skin to absorb. It leaves white patches on the face and the skin dry.

DONT BUY!!!

1

0 stars! This is one of the worst products I've ever had! When applied it immediately leaves little white chunks everywhere! The formula is also completely drying to the skin and I'm usually not dry at all! And additionally I got a rash around the eye area. Definitely not worth the price and no possibility for returns if used once ... not going to buy again from here, very disappointing.

Matt It Up

A lovely product but is let down by being too 'shiny'. Make-up doesn't stay on particularly well throughout the day and there is a constant shine through. Need to follow more closely to Cliniques Cityblock SPF40

Worst product from drunk elephant!

1

I’m in my 30s, have a normal skin type and no spots always use a lot of Drunk Elephant products but this one a disaster! Skin flared up with a rash and took 3 weeks to clear up (very upsetting!)

I cant use it

I’ve got a mini size in the Shelf Respect Kit, at first I was surprised that it almost doesn’t leave a white cast, and I even started thinking of getting a full size, but after wearing it for about two hours my skin felt incredibly dry. I tried wearing it few more times but for my normal skin it feels like dried clay mask. I just can’t stand it, even with a hydrating serum and a moisturizer underneath.

My perfect sunscreen!

At first I was skeptical of this sunscreen, since it has a slew of bad reviews, but after I tried it I saw that it is truly a game changer! Squeezing the tube gave me this grainy textured goop that gave me a greasy face and pilled horribly. Then I shook the tube a few times and it became so smooth, went on amazingly and didn't pill at all. I am very pleased that it even has a pore smoothing effect while it's on, and gives me a nice glow. However, I must note that I have very fair skin and so it doesn't have that white cast on me. If I want extra glow, I add half a pump of D-Bronzi but no more as it becomes very orange afterward. Its only disadvantage is that it doesn't play nice with foundation at all, even my best ones looked patchy and dry on top of this. Fortunately, my concealer looks just fine. I am very happy I finally found a good sunscreen with clean ingredients that doesn't break me out or makes my face greasy. I will definitely continue to purchase this.

Good but you need to be careful when using it

4

It is really lightweight and effective. But I had to learn the hard way that you need to be careful when using it or it flakes off. It reacted with my serum and started flaking off. I started applying it with a face oil and I really need to rub it in with circular motions in order to stop it flaking off (and to avoid it leaving a white layer on my skin). No breakouts with this which is great!

Can see why it divides opinions

This is my first foray into Drunk Elephant. I don't really buy into their 'suspicious' ethos but have heard the reviews are good nonetheless. SPF is my one essential so I decided to try it. The first attempt was horrible. My skin was slimy and with a cast, it caught in my eyebrows. It looked a mess for a sheer product. I decided to re-read the packaging and noticed it said 90ml was 80 applications! No wonder I was having problems. I was applying my usual amount of product when in actuality I needed only half. Once I got to grips with that, the usage has been much better. Texturally it's lumpy and like porridge as it dispenses, but with a little time spent on application, I get a good result. I can't apply in my usual slap-dash manner, and in some ways makes me very conscious of application. After 10-12 minutes it begins to dry down, although for me it doesn't go fully matte. All in all, I like this product but it necessitates a number of 'application techniques' I am not used to.
