Founded in the 17th century, Cire Trudon is one of the oldest candle and home fragrance companies in the world. One of the brand’s divine ‘Odeurs d’Egypte’ candles, this candle celebrates the sacred rituals and myths of ancient Egypt – while smelling absolutely divine, naturally. Beautifully packaged, it opens with top notes of woody, herbaceous cistus and subtly spicy pepper before opening out into the soft, comforting scent of papyrus and cedar, on an intriguing base of vetiver and labdanum. A stunning addition to any bedside table, desk or mantelpiece, it's housed in hand-blown Italian glass, adorned with the signature Cire Trudon gold label to single you out as a curator of chic.
Encapsulating the ancient myths and rituals of Egypt, Cire Trudon’s Philae Scented Candle is inspired by an island on the Nile – think cool stone temples, hieroglyphs and the scent of papyrus wafting in the breeze. A timeless creation, the candle is centred around the ancient scent of papyrus, which exudes a dry, woody, scholarly scent which is reminiscent of cosy, reassuring book shops. The head notes of woody, herbaceous cistus and subtly spicy pepper and base of lemongrass-like vetiver and woody, amber-like labdanum lend intriguing, lingering depth and ensure that your rooms are filled with sublime scent. Golden inside with an off-white exterior, the beautiful jar makes a great addition to any room – and the handcrafted box in which is comes is decorated with hieroglyphs and acronyms that hint at the legendary civilisation it celebrates.
It is important to trim wick before each use. When using the candle for the first time, keep the candle alight until the entire surface is covered in liquid wax. This should take approximately 1 hour and will ensure a more effective, even burn for all future uses. Depending on where the candle is placed it has a burn time of 65-70 hours.

Beyond beautiful: sensuous, ethereal, dreamy
I am actually lost for words, as I feel I cannot do this candle justice. I read the description of Philae, I knew I had to try it. The fragrance is so beautiful and transports me to another world: the ancient Temple of Luxor; the court of Rameses. it is beautiful, ethereal and unique. I am blown away by the quality of Cire Trudon. And the hand-blown Italian glass is exquisite. I will be trying more Cire Trudon candles - they are in a different league to any other candle I’ve ever bought. I love my Goop Church candle and have also fallen in love with Cire Trudon.
