“Nothing I could find on the market brightened as well as the homemade turmeric treatment my grandmother passed down and so… I decided to bottle it!” says the innovator Anuradha, whose family formula caught the attention of Volition’s founders (and earned a ‘thumbs up’ from the brand’s ardent followers). Refined by a team of pro formulators, the resulting exfoliant’s brimming with turmeric (it visibly brightens and wards against premature ageing), olive and sesame oils (to deliver hydration and keep the skin supple), sandalwood extract (to tone and help calm sensitivity) and micronized walnut shell (to physically ‘lift’ dulling dead cells and debris) to polish your skin to perfection.
Use as a quick brightening treatment...
Gently massage over damp skin. Leave on for two minutes then rinse well.

Not for sensitive skin
I really wanted to love this product so I tried it several times but it always ended up hurting my skin. Knowing I have sensitive skin, I was using it in a very gentle way. Right after using it my skin feels very soft and exfoliated but the next day I always wake up with breakouts and dry patches (as if my skin was cut by a little knife) all over my face. This scrub does its job but it is way too harsh for the face.

Calms redness
This is a great weekly scrub and has helped calm my skin's redness/inflammation. Agreed with other reviewers that it can feel harsh if you treat it like a normal scrub, but if you follow the directions and gently layer it on as a mask, it works great.

Good but...
This is way too harsh for using it once or twice a week (maybe once a month as a deep scrub), in the long run, I think that a scrub like used this often will cause micro-tears in your skin that will make you look duller and age faster. It’s a known fact that walnut shells scrub are not good to use on your face and these ones are actually very sharp. This doesn’t mean that the scrub is bad, you can still use this on your body, it smells great and leaves your skin very smooth.

Trial pack review
I got the little freebie trial pack with my last Cult order and tried it. Apart from the micronised walnut shell actually being much bigger particles than "micronised" suggests, the product is fantastic. It delivers a cleanse that is not drying as often happens with oil-based cleansers. I am also noting that the founder is Indian in ethnicity and I applaud her for making this product as products for our skin are few and far in between. I am going to buy a full size pack in my next order. One star reduced for the walnut shell particle size which I found a bit abrasive on my sensitive skin.
