    • Why it's Cult

Founded by esthetician and beauty entrepreneur, Charlotte Cho, Then I Met You abides by an attitude of thoughtfulness that transcends self-care. It's inspired by the Korean concept of 'jeong' - a deep feeling of empathy and affection that one can develop for people, places and things - to go deeper, to focus a little extra effort in the right places, and spark real change to your skin. An invaluable sidekick to the industry-adored {Living Cleansing Balm}, the Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel is the ultimate second cleanse; designed to make quick work of oil-based impurities, this gentle cleanser clarifies your pores and counters breakouts all while flooding your skin with hydrating glycerin and sodium hyaluronate—no one likes their skin to feel stripped.

    • How to use

For the second step of your double cleanse after rinsing off the Living Cleansing Balm, lather a pea-sized amount using water and wet hands. Then massage into your skin to remove water-based impurities. Rinse thoroughly and gently pat dry.

Then I Met You - Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel

Then I Met You Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel Reviews

    Holy Grail Cleanser
I'm on my third bottle of this cleanser now. I have quite dry skin and every cleanser I've encountered has always left me really dry no matter how much moisturiser I use and made me feel itchy and tight. Not this one. This is most likely the only cleanser that works for my skin and works really well with every other product I use - it's soothing, hydrating and I love the boost of exfoliation in this as well. The smell is a bit overwhelming at first, but you get used to it after a while (I guess I just like herbal scents a lot!)
Feels very harsh on the skin
I really wanted to love this product but it feels very drying and my skin is peeling around my nose, even though I have a very nourishing skincare routine. As soon as I stopped using this product, my skin felt happy again
    All the good stuff
With a high concentration of sake (rice) extracts, green tea, PHA and licorice, this herbal cleanser is designed to clean pores but leave your skin hydrated. The jelly-like texture encapsulates sodium hylauronate, which is a hydrator so your skin doesn't feel dry or tight afterwards. I designed it to be a perfect compliment to the Living Cleansing Balm (which will nourish your skin). Remember, only a small bead mixed with water is all you need for a nice, soft cleanse. - Charlotte, Founder of Then I Met You
    Obsessed
I really enjoy this cleanser! I have combination skin and cleansers for oily skin that leave my skin stripped, while cleansers for normal skin usually leave me feeling too 'oily'. However, this cleanser just leaves my skin feeling clean and happy, but not stripped. I know the scent is something that bothers some people, but I have to admit I enjoyed it from the start :) the texture was something to get used to since I never experienced something like that sticky texture in other cleansers, but again, I enjoy it. Overall, this has become one of my favourite cleansers!
A little sticky but otherwise a great cleanser
I like to use this cleanser for an AM cleanse whilst the shower is warming up (whilst it’s not too hot). It feels really lovely on the skin, and doesn’t feel like it strips at all. However, it’s a little sticky/gloopy coming out of the tube. Still great though….!
    Really like it....
First of yes it does smell a bit like fermented rice/sake and black tea at least to me but I don't mind the smell. I have dry skin and find this doesn't leave my skin tight after which is great. Only reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5 is I've been using it for a few weeks. It is a bit goopy before you put it on and when it's on the face it feels nice and soothing. I use it as light cleanse or second cleanse.
    Strange goop but it works
I absolutely love the oil based cleanser in this range. This one is for water based impurities so it’s a bit sticky and slimy. It’s hard to describe the texture. It doesn’t smell of anything just a weird brown goop. I used this as my second cleanser and it does the job but if you have dry skin you could get away with using the first cleanser twice. I have combination skin so this helps to balance my skin as the water based cleanser dries out the oil. Skin feels soft and really clear I don’t have any blemishes at all (I would normally get 2-3 large hormone spots but since using this brand I don’t appear to have any)
    Great for my skin!
After seeing mixed reviews I wanted to jump in and give some love for this cleanser. My skin is combo, so I like a gentle cleanser that doesn't leave a lot of oil on my skin. This works perfectly as a second cleanse after the balm that accompanies this. I sometimes use it alone as my morning cleanse. It leaves my skin fresh and very clean, but not stripped. Some people find the smell strange or off-putting. Personally, I don't have any issues with the way it smells. Any brand that chooses efficacy over scent gets a thumbs up from me! I'm also okay with the sliminess of this, not uncommon in Korean skincare, but may be off-putting for some.
    NOT DRY SKIN FRIENDLY
Do not, I repeat, do NOT buy if you have dry skin or lean towards dry skin because this will dry your skin. If you have normal to oily or oily then this would be amazing cleanser for you! I have dry skin during winter and combination during summer and even during summer this didn’t work for me.
    Love it
I have dry Sensative skin due to eczema and this is fabulous for a 2nd or morning cleanse. The rinse is great, it’s non stripping, I’ve suffered no adverse reactions in fact, my skin is so smooth, soft and hydrated afterwards and the scent doesn’t bother me
    The smell
Nice wash, but nothing incredible. And agree with the other reviews re. the smell...
    The smell…
I concur with the previous review, this stuff makes my face feel tight and also smells pretty bad. For the price there are much better alternatives out there.
    The smell and tight skin
I love the cleaning balm so thought I would try this as part of double cleanse. Def mistake. The texture is a strange slim like consistency and the smell I find rather offensive. If you can get past that it feel nice while you are cleansing but leaves my skin feeling tight, almost like all the moisture was sucked out. My skin is normal (a little dry but this is only in colder months). Stick with the cleansing balm... it’s spectacular!!
