Crisp and clean, this scent stars Iris Aldehyde above a warm and woody blend of ambrette, bergamot and amber. Think line-dried linen with an earthy, urban edge.
A celebration of the beauty and complexity of fragrance chemistry, Nomenclature’s iri_del Eau de Parfum is contained in an elegant lab flask – in honour of its man-made origins. Created by top perfumer Patricia Choux – a graduate of Versaille’s prestigious perfumery school, ISIPCA – this contemporary take on iris dispenses with its typical, powdery characteristics and injects a chic, sharply-tailored sensory aesthetic. With the merest hint of cool cucumber, warm skin and fresh, clean linen, the initial burst of floral freshness gives way to a crackling, woody-ambery blend of bergamot and ambrette – a vegetal musk with facets of rose, pear and iris – that exudes lingering sophistication.
Spritz liberally on pulse points, or mist the air and step into the fragrance cloud to envelop yourself with the most subtle perfume.
Iris Aldehyde, Wood, Ambrette, Bergamot and Amber.

Unusual and very literal interpretation of Iris
To be honest, the first time I spayed this I was mighty surprised and even a little disappointed, but it's kind of grown on me. This starts out with a full on, very carroty iris blast. A very vegetal feel to the opening notes. It quickly settles down, and the ambrette and woody notes come into it a little more. I personally adore the dry muskiness of ambrette, so was hoping for this to develop alongside the amber. On me I can't detect any ambery warmth, even in the dry down. Some added warmth would have been a great foil to the middle notes and dry down. At the very last on me (and could be skin chemistry) this has a very slightly savoury note, although I can't think what to compare that too. The scent doesn't have a great deal of longevity, or else I quickly become anosmic to the molecules. In my opinion this is quite a masculine scent, maybe a little too dry and earthy for many women. I certainly wouldn't find it offensive on a man though, and I intend to experiment layering with something warmer to see if it suits me better.
