As welcoming as the smouldering scent of a log-lit fire, crackling peacefully away on chilly winter eve, Maison Margiela's By The Fireplace Candle transforms the atmosphere of any room into one of cosy contemplation.
Reminiscent of the gracious dancing flames of a smoky fire and the blanket-filled comfort that accompanies cold evenings, you're sure to strike a match with the warming scent. Like a pile of fresh firewood, the scent boasts earthy, heady middle notes of chestnut accord, gaïac wood oil and clove oil – balanced with sweet base notes of reb berries and cashmeran, like toasted marshmallows in front of a dancing flame. With a precious white glass design adorned with the iconic Replica fabric label, this candle will beautifully light up any space.
The first time you light a scented candle, let it burn for at least one hour until all the wax on the surface has melted. It will help the candle melt uniformly during all the duration of use.
Leave the scented candle wax to burn for three or four hours at a time.
Smother the flame using a candle snuffer and avoid blowing out the flame.
Trim the wick between each usage to obtain a length of three to five millimetres.
Reposition the candle wick after blowing out the candle.
Never place a lit candle in a draught or on a glass, wooden or marble surface.

So atmospheric!
Really high quality candle with a great throw, in a sophisticated yet unique vessel that glows beautifully when lit - expensive, but good value. It’s smoky but sweet, and very redolent of a fireplace.

Great quality, smells amazing!
I adore this candle! It burns cleanly with no tunnelling or soot, has a great burn time, and the jar glows beautifully when lit; it’s really high quality and good value despite being pricey. It smells very smoky and redolent of a fireplace, and I think it works much better as a candle than as a perfume. It’s so strongly scented that I could smell it before even removing the cellophane on the box, yet not headache inducing.

My god this is beautiful. Probably my favourite smoky smells. Diptyque Feu de Bois comes close, but i prefer this more. It has an underlying sweetness that makes it perfect for sweater weather.

Had this on my gift list for a while. I was lucky enough to receive it for my birthday. I loved it so much I bought myself a back up for when it’s finished. It’s a lovely smoky scent with a sweet undertone. I love it even more than the perfume.Â
