LIXIRSKIN Soft Clay Rubber 60ml

Having spent years as a formulator for many of the world’s most coveted beauty brands (probably lining your bathroom shelves as we speak) Colette Haydon unveiled her own debut collection, LIXIRSKIN – much to the delight of skin care buffs the world over. Combining enzymatic and mechanical exfoliation, this rub-off mask is developed in the tradition of French facials (which include extraction) clearing congestion, drawing out impurities and reducing excess sebum to leave skin clear, purified and smooth.

Exfoliants with ‘bits’ can be irritating and abrasive to skin, merely scratching the surface without properly clearing pores. Enter: LIXIRSKIN’s Soft Clay Rubber. A mask and exfoliant in one, this rub-off formula combines enzymatic and mechanical exfoliation to leave your skin impeccably clear. It’s been developed in the tradition of French facials that include extraction and works in three steps. Firstly, keratolytic enzymes break down the keratin of dead cells that blocks pores. This allows the white clay – which LIXIRSKIN considers the simplest yet supreme skin saviour – to clear congestion, draw out impurities and reduce excess sebum. Finally, the product dries and turns into a non-abrasive, mechanical exfoliant – the more you ‘rub’, the more dead skin cells will be gone! This triple action leaves your complexion swiftly clearer, purified and smoothed – the texture of your skin is refined and toned, with pores and imperfections far less visible.

Once or twice a week, apply generously to dry skin, massage and pat for one minute. Once the product has dried, rub off with finger tips. Where necessary, gently squeeze blackheads between two fingers and rinse well with warm water.

You can also use as a mask - leave for five minutes and rinse.

Double hit use for heavily congested skin: Apply first as a rub off exfoliant then reapply as a mask.

Left my face a mess

I look like Samantha Jones after a chemical peel. Looking forward to wearing a giant hat for the next week. I left it on for 3 mins per Cult Beauty's how to use section. I don't have sensitive skin and have never had a reaction like this to a face mask, cream, anything before.

Disappointing!

It stings and burns when I apply it (although is easy to spread) it's probably because of the peppermint oil (should have checked the INCI list, but trusted Lixirskin) It dries down quickly, but removing it by rubbing it off your skin (almost like erasing) does definitely not work without heavy rubbing and tugging. It clings to your skin. Leaves my skin red, stressed and irritated. Not again and not a good way to start into exploring the Lixirskin range. Failure.

I don't get it

I have a lot of masks and love to try out new ones but this one is a total miss for me. When doing as described I am just tugging at my skin which you really shouldn't do. Quite disappointing

Very expensive considering what it does.

This is the first Lixir product that I feel is so-so. For the past 6 months, I've slowly replaced all my skincare steps with their range. Cleansers, moisturiser and serum, all are extraordinary. Together, as a regime, they have made my skin consistently amazing (a first for me). While the aforementioned are holy grail products, this is not. It is very mediocre in its performance if a little harsh- which is strange for Lixir, and considering that, it's very expensive. As a woman with fine lines, I object to the physical exfoliation aspect of this mask as well. I did it once, never again. No rubbing for ageing skin. Even as a rinse-off mask, it doesn't really work. A stellar alternative, that is worth every last penny, is Charlotte Tilbury's clay mask. Give this specific one a miss, but if you haven't tried out the rest of the Lixir range, get to it quickly.

Brilliant

Brilliant product! In my teenage years, I used to have facials weekly because my acne and my facialist at the time used a product like this. So many memories when I saw that this is exactly the same product - nothing like it in the market. 4 stars just because the package is a bit inconvenient, but the product is fabulous.

A really nice mask

It's a nice clay, creamy mask, interesting way to use, comes off easily. I love Lixirskin products, so I like this one a lot, but still have to see results, to see if its worth it.
