Torn

I love Lime Crime, and I really want to love this but I don’t find myself reaching for it as it takes a lot of work to get a great look with this. I have Venus III and that is extremely pigmented and beautiful, and this seems to lack the quality slightly. The pigmentation is there with the matte shades, they just seem to take a lot of building as they blend away upon initial application. Most of the shimmer shades are sheer top coats which was a real shame, although they do look nice. Overall I just wish it had a bit more of a punch, because the shades look gorgeous in the pan but don’t necessarily translate.

Worse than usual

So I own Venus and Venus III. All shades are good in the first one, the third one requires figuring out how to use so-called topper shades, but there are only two such shades in there. In this palette, however, almost each shade is a struggle in it's own way. So, Rose Burst (metallic pink), Blue Sky (metallic blue) and Twonicorn (metallic lavender) share similar formula (it's also similar to V-III topper shades, but it's not the same). All of them are best to apply with a sponge applicator, I find that that's the only way for Blue Sky and Twonicorn to decently show up, it also makes Rose Burst very vibrant. Frosting, RSVP and Ten (all in top row) I only tried as transition shades. Frosting and RSVP are mattes with shimmer particles, Ten is just matte. All of the shades have huge fallout, more then ABH Norvina and both Venus palettes. Grass is beautiful plain matte pigment, but it only looks good all over the lid, it's patchy and not that vibrant in the crease. Lime Crime and Candles are shimmers, Candles is a bit oily. They both apply just fine with a flat synthetic brush (you can wet it or not, it honestly doesn't change anything here). Cloud is white shimmery shade and I noticed that it's quite lackluster in daylight, it needs layering. But it's somehow shows up really good in artificial light, it's quite an interresting finish. Libra (purple) is a third and the last plain matte in the palette. It's a fine shade, doesn't have much of a fallout, looks good in the crease. Wrapped (blue) has a slightly satin finish. I also find it's beautiful on the lid, but it's really bad in the crease. Overall, there are no shades, except fof Lime Crime, that you can just use however you want and don't have to find proper ways to apply it, and avoid fallout. I would recommend to always do your eyes first. I also find that your look can become muddy if you use a lot of this colours in the same look. I would recommend it only to die-hard Lime Crime fans who can see this not just as a pressed pigment palette. Otherwise it may not worth buying, especially for the price.
