When iconic English designer Anya Hindmarch created a candle collection (complete with her signature streak of fun) we just knew it belonged in our Hall of Fame… Her exquisite candles are crafted from the finest raw ingredients and hand-poured in England – but it’s the scents that truly intrigued us. Inspired by sun and light breeze-dried laundry, this Washing Powder edition blends notes of violet leaf, cucumber, watermelon rind, Persian galbanum, Australian mimosa, hyacinth, pine needles and honeysuckle to create an airy, floral fragrance. As well as the surprisingly sublime scent, the heavy glass jar and chic acrylic rainbow sticker will mark you out as a curator of cool.
Known for her chic accessories and signature streak of fun, iconic English designer Anya Hindmarch has extended her creative eye (and olfactory talents) to an ultra-covetable candle collection – and we’re very happy about that indeed. Her exquisite candles are crafted from the finest raw ingredients and hand-poured in England – but it’s the scents that truly intrigued us. Recreating the everyday in an extraordinary way, the candles are based around surprising – yet sublime – scents that evoke happy memories for Anya. This one is an homage to ‘Washing Powder’, inspired by fresh laundry dried in light afternoon breeze and sunshine. Blending notes of calone, violet leaf, cucumber, watermelon rind, Persian galbanum, Australian mimosa, hyacinth, pine needles, first-bloom crocus and honeysuckle – with heavy undertones of freshly made beds and missing socks – it exudes an airy, floral fragrance that you’ll fall for immediately. Presented in a beautiful heavy black glass jar embossed with super-cute acrylic rainbow sticker, this will not only fill your rooms with sublime scent, it will mark you out as a super-chic curator of cool.

Lovely
I actually really quite like this candle. The oils are high quality, so you can enjoy burning it for hours without getting a sensory overload headache, and the subtlety and quiet complexity of the fragrance actually lends itself to creating a serene atmosphere. Some candles have a great scent but it's just overpowering after a little while, but I didn't find that with this. What jumps out at me from the scent profile is the headiness of the violet (which thankfully isn't too sickly sweet as violet is want to do), the creamy, sweet honeysuckle, the freshness of the cucumber - all encompassed in the acutely clean floral of the Hyacinth. Only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 is because it's not all that big for the price. The jar is also super cute and I'm definitely going be basic and use it for brushes or cotton buds, or whatever the beauty bloggers do!

£50 & Meh.
Do not get me wrong the stick on rainbow is a lovely touch, but I got so excited by the description. It is my favourite smell. But in reality it's Meh and not worth the £50 price tag. Won't be purchasing again (unless it's marked down by 60%) Which is a shame I love candles and have many expensive ones.
