Product description

Do you find yourself slip-sliding all over the floor when you're practicing yoga? Can't fit your trusty mat into your carry-on when travelling? We've found a clever solution - Yoga-Paws Mini Mats. These non-slip, padded grips fit over hands & feet to help you stabilise when practicing Yoga & Pilates. They're also lined with absorbent towelling to stop sweaty palms if you have trouble sticking to your mat during practice, especially for Bikram and the cardio-heavy Astanga practices.

Why it's cult

Yoga-Paws founder Jamie Getzwiller came up with the idea for the revolutionary mini mats when she was editing a yoga video and noticed all the practitioners were unable to stabilise their postures properly because they were on slippery rugs. She experimented with many prototypes over the years before perfecting the design which is such a cult hit today. They're compact enough to fit into your pocket, bag or suitcase so you can practice your favourite moves wherever you are.

Directions & ingredients for Yoga-Paws Mini Mats

Directions

The easiest and best way to wash Yoga-Paws mini mats is to put them on inside out, so that the towel lining is exposed, put them back on like gloves and wash your hands under the sink in cold water & gentle soap. Then just lay them out and air dry. It is not recommended to put Yoga-Paws mini mats in the washing machine. But if you must, put them on a delicate setting & place the Yoga-Paws in a garment bag. We recommend washing your mini mats before the first use, and after every use.

First impressions and sizing

Bought a pair each for myself and my partner - primarily to use while traveling. Paws give a really solid purchase on a variety of surfaces (wood, carpet or extra grip on a standard yoga mat) and are pretty comfy to wear. Freedom of movement and the level of padding are good although a consequence of this is a slight restriction in movement if you try and bend your hand towards the inside of your wrist (although this in not a common movement in yoga). The construction seems pretty solid - my only concern is the elastic that holds the foot paws on at the heel while may stretch over time although should be easy enough to replace - we'll see how they hold up. It's an obvious comment but these don't give any padding if you're resting on your knees or lying down. Sizing: I have UK size 7.5 (European 41) feet and find the medium size foot paws perfect. My partner has UK size 6 and finds the small size OK but does find that her feet move around in the paws a little (this might have more to do with the width of your feet (8.5cm across the knuckles for her, 10cm for me) rather than length). For the hand paws I also find the medium size to be nice and snug (the small size are uncomfortably small). The width of my hand (measured across my knuckles) is 9cm. My other half finds the small size good and snug and her hand measures 7.5cm across the knuckles. If in doubt contact the people at Cult - they were very helpful in finding the right size.

I bought these because I'm pretty bendy and I have trouble staying in down dog (sounds so ridiculous out of context) because if I let my weight sink me into the full extent of the stretch, head-on-floor territory, my hands and feet lose their grip... Smack! Disaster! These paws do exactly what they claim - they give you better grip and best of all, they're really comfy. I still haven't taken the feet ones off... they're better than my slippers! Another plus is that it means you don't necessarily need a mat to practice, unless you spend a lot of time on your knees I suppose, which is nice because mats are so awkward to carry around. Now I can salute the sun whenever I see it!
