Mousse Intense gives the best faked tan colour for pale skin on the market. It is a fine mousse that produces a super quick-drying, even coverage with very little effort and a fresh citrus scent. The intensity of the tan can be controlled by how thickly you apply the mousse, which spreads on easily making it a great option for those of us who never quite get it right. It develops into a really natural, just got back from holiday colour. Good for normal to oily skin and novices.

The pale members of Cult Beauty have done extensive self-tanning tests on all the well-known brands, Xen Tan consistently had top results in colour, scent, ease of application, moisturisation and lack of streaking. Unlike most fake tan products that use orange colouring to mimic tanned colouring, Xen-Tan uses the olive tones that are found naturally in sun-kissed skin tones.

Always exfoliate skin first and moisturise knees, elbows and ankles. Apply in a circular motion to your body. Apply slightly less lotion to the tops of your feet, elbows and knees. Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap, afterwards apply Mouse Intense to the back of your hands with cotton squares or a makeup sponge. Wait three hours for your tan to develop before washing or swimming. This self tanner dries in about 10 minutes.

I am 23 and very pale and I had never used fake tan before. However, I'd had this product recommended to me by several people and so I finally caved in and ordered it. I am really chuffed with the results! The colour is really natural, it smells gorgeous and, inexperienced as I am, I managed to apply it without any streaks! It's true that you can get it as light or as dark as you want it. My mum has deep olive skin, and it gives her a lovely glow too! There's no orangeyness, it's exactly the colour you would get if you caught the sun. I also think it's good if you don't necessary want to look like you've got a full-on tan. If you're after more of a healthy glow, then a fine layer of this should be perfect. I don't think I could live without this now!
Good entry to fake tanning

I've had nothing but sketchy, orange, patchy results from fake tans I've tried before this. Granted I am a complete Neanderthal with beauty products, but how hard can it be!! Anyway I'm reall pale naturally and this gives me a nice natural colour without too much faffing. Job done.

I am usually terrible at the fake tan thing but think I have finally found one that works for me. The only thing I can find against this product is that it doesn't come with gloves so I just have to make sure I wash my palms properly after use. I am really pale so it is easy to slip up but this worked really well. The first day you do it the colour is very rich after 24 hours it looks totally natural and lasts for a week. No more sneaky sunbeds for me, well maybe the odd one, but I am very impressed.

Fast, fuss free, no nasty digestive biscuit niff... this does exactly what it promises and it's sooo easy to apply. Lovely stuff. Have even dumped my Rodial tanners. Colour is fantastic - first morning after I'd applied it I looked down sleepily at my leg and thought "oooh! Have I been on holiday??!?" . I'm kind of high maintenance in a low maintenance wrapper - like to look polished but I just don't have the time!!!! This nails a tan for me in record time.
