The Christmas Party Diet – will a carb fiend convert?

Woman DietingThis weekend my mother went shopping for a Christmas Party Outfit. Crazy, I know. There’s nothing like a mad dash the day before the office bash to add to the pre-party excitement. But never one to miss out on a trip to the shops, I tagged along in search of my own first-night-out-in-November outfit.

To my dismay, I found myself in the changing room of H&M, turning purple as I held my breath and my sister tried to yank up the zip of a black tulip skirt. We both gasped in horror when the fitting room assistant, who’d been watching the scene, suggested I try the size 12.

“How very dare she,” I muttered as we skulked back behind the curtain. “I’m a size 10. This is small made!”

But the truth is, my size 10 clothes are getting rather tight. And the size 8 wardrobe I was sporting in the summer of 2008? Well, let’s just say there’s currently a pair of Stella McCartney jeans looking for a good home.

The problem?

In my house ‘diet’ is a swear word. The Boyf insists on two curries a week, and shows his affection with homemade lasagne and a well-stocked ‘goody’ cupboard. He says he loves me as I am, but the truth is I’m now finding it hard to love myself. So today it was decided: I must embark on a diet.

And it seems I’ve not made this decision alone. Research carried out by British Lion eggs has pinpointed today as the serious start of Christmas Party Diets (CPDs) across the country, with the average dieter hoping to lose 10 lbs by the start of the festive season. It won’t be easy for any of us, and I envisage more tribulations than triumphs attempting to lose weight during a season when all people tell you to do is ‘Eat, drink and be merry’.

But stay tuned readers as this blog records the journey of a gluttonous girl’s attempt to get on the straight and narrow (jeans). She’s going to need all the help she can get….- martiena van der meer

Nothing to beat a quick diet before the season gets in full swing! If you like your carbs be sure to have porridge in the morning, keeps you cosy going out in the winter and no need for mid morning snacks. As for that boyfriend- cook home made low fat curries and you’ll be sticking to your diet at the same time as helping him to lose a few pounds! Insist all the goodies are fruity treats from now until Xmas!

Totally relate to this post, size 8 has become untouchable, size 10 getting tighter and tighter… don’t dare go for the size 12 pile (at least not without cutting the lables out in major denial) I too need to demand that the boyfriend starts to show his love in non-food related ways! Good luck with the diet, will be following the blog and your progress…
