Product description
Originally created in 1878 for Marie Antoinette, Black Jade is a beautiful chypre floral fragrance inspired by her rose-filled garden. This rich, seductive fragrance starts with cardamom, cinnamon & exotic incense embroidered with lush, satiny roses & jasmine, all layered over a velvety base of patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla & amber. The opening is surprisingly cool and spicy, then as the floral heart opens and the roses bloom, it becomes warm, enticing and compelling. Exquisitely confident.
Why it's cult
The original Black Jade, called 'Jardin Secret' was created in 1787 just for Queen Marie Antoinette by royal perfumer Jean-Louis Fargeon, to whom Lubin was apprenticed and from whom Lubin pinched the formula, ah the scent of ancient crimes! It is as deliciously extravagant as the Queen's lavish tastes and was so loved by her that she kept it on her person in a black jade flask that later became the idea behind the name.
