High end beauty hits the high street

nip-and-fab-big

If fashion designers can create diffusion lines for high street stores, then why can’t high-end beauty brands do the same? That was Rodial founder Maria Hatzistefanis’s thinking when she put her vast wealth of experience into Nip + Fab – a new affordable skincare range that’s going into Boots at the end of September.

With the knowledge and knowhow that’s made Rodial a bestselling global brand, Maria was the obvious choice to try and do the same with a mass market line. There’s already a waiting list for the range, which is clinically tested and packed with natural ingredients. The hardworking, no-nonsense products are designed to target specific needs (cellulite, eye-brightening, plumping, smoothing) and have cute names like Tummy Fix and Lip + Nip Fix.

With the recession’s chill winds still nipping at our ankles, it’s reassuring to know there is an affordable option out there (particularly at the end of the month).

Maria Hatzistefanis explains, “When Boots approached me to create a new skincare range I jumped at the chance. We both saw a gap in the market for a serious, mass market range to help women and men achieve results in double-quick time, with minimum fuss and without the expense. Breakthrough, clinically tested natural ingredients that deliver results form the basis of NIP + FAB and I hope customers will be as excited as I am about my new range”

Nip + Fab will be available from selected Boots stores nationwide from 27 September 2010. Prices range from £7.95 to £18.95. Stockist enquiries: 0845 124 4545

The Rodial Beautiful Awards

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

DMB-RODIAL048

Last night The Sanderson held the first ever Rodial Beautiful awards in conjunction with the brilliant “Kids Company“. For the second time in my life (the first being from my school’s Dramatic Arts Awards), I was a nominee. My category was the “Freshest New Face“.  Quick note: None of the nominees had  just come off the operating table as the title would suggest.

Paloma Faith won “Most Edgy Look“. Before the awards were announced I had a chat with her about our nominations. We both agreed that edgy meant the corner of a shape, say triangle, and that there is a tendency to jump off the triangle into uncharted territory. Not much can be said about being fresh, other than I wasn’t feeling very fresh as it was soo HOT in the billiards room.

Rosamind Pike won “Most Vital Beauty” and gave an hilarious speech, albeit via email as she’s filming in Bath. She thought she’d won an award from Radial, which is a design of automotive tire, and was hugely relieved to hear that it was her beauty that won over her ability to grip the tarmac.

Classic glamour” saw Jade Jagger outshine Marie Helvin, Thandie Newton and Emilia Fox. Not so sure about this choice, especially upon seeing an almost black Jade receive her award. She needs to make friends with an SPF me thinks.

Then the moment I had been waiting for….”The Freshest Face” award, which went to….. Freida Pinto. Being the gracious loser that I am, I totally think they made the right choice. Congratulations Miss Pinto. And thank goodness I didn’t lose to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley or Emma Watson!

Finally the “Best New Beauty Brand and Packaging” award which saw Tess Daly Beauty for M & S beat Charlotte Tilbury’s MyFace and JK by Jemma Kidd. Tess was a cordial winner and gave a little shout out to her hubby Vern…1.2.3 aaaaaaw.

imgWe had a lovely tip swap with the radiant Tess, mostly on the subject of avoiding the pasty pale look. Her favourite is Lancome’s Flash Bronze, ours is Xen Tan. On the subject of her range which, apparently took 2 years hard work to formulate,  her fave product is the Daly Skin Shimmer (loving the use of her surname) which gives you beautiful luminosity and stays put, Tess would know…TV lights are the worst kind for intense heat and light.

The night was a huge success and we went home with the latest Rodial Launch Glamoxy Snake Serum which basically mirrors the effects of a Temple Viper’s venom when attacked, i.e it gives a mild freeze-like effect like botox.

Many thanks to cult beauty expert Maria Hatzistefanis for being a marvelous hostess. Here’s to next year. olivia inge
