WTF – Someone’s on a power trip

chanel

Monsieur Lagerfeld and his cronies at Chanel Inc. have decreed, in a full page(s) advert in Women’s Wear Daily, that any “Fashion editors, advertisers, copywriters and other well-intentioned mis-users of our Chanel name” will be sued within a kitten heel of their lives.

Most brand creators would give their eye teeth to establish an ‘ism’, bringing the brand name into the common vernacular (to google, to hoover etc.) Nothing short of a baby-eating, nazi-animal shagging, radioactive-eco disaster could harm the solidity of the beautiful Chanel brand, but this move stinks of a serious lack of a sense of humour! alexia inge

Breaking Speculation – Liquid Silver the next Jade?

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Genghis Lagerfeld’s latest ‘neon-baroque’ couture collection (s/s 2010) was all formed around a dream he had last year where everything was liquid silver, I would advise less Camembert late at might! Not a thread of black appeared in the whole show… Mon Dieu is Karl softening in his old age! What really struck me were the beautifully molten silver nails supported by all the models, will this be the next Jade Le Vernis? I seriously hope so. alexia inge

Cosmopolitan Beauty Awards 2009 winners announced

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

white-space-for-blog19cosmo-awards-8-7-8-006666previewThe winners of the increasingly prestigious Cosmopolitan Beauty Awards were announced today, with some of the biggest names in beauty scooping multiple accolades.

Chanel did particularly well bagging the awards for Best sheer lipstick (Aqualumière Sheer Colour Lipshine SPF 15), Best Foundation (Mat Lumière Long Lasting Makeup SPF 15), Best everyday moisturiser (Hydramax + Active Moisture Cream) and Best face mask (Sublimage Hydrating Masque).

Cult favourite Aromatherapy Associates took home the award for Best bath and body oil for their Revive Morning Bath and Shower Oil for the third time and it came as no surprise when the GHD IV Styler was announced the winner of the Best heat styler category for the seventh year running.

But it wasn’t just the big guns receiving recognition, REN skin care (specialists in natural, high-performance products) picked up the Best ‘green’ skin care award for Rose Synergy 012 Restoring Facial Serum.

High-street beauty came out on top of the Readers’ Kiss of Approval awards with Nivea products named as the Ultimate moisturiser and Ultimate sun tan lotion and Simple stealing the coveted prize of Ultimate cleansing wipes (now surely a must in every girl’s beauty bag). Maybelline was the most popular make up brand with Cosmopolitan readers, sealing the kiss of approval for its Great Lash Mascara and Dream Matte Mouse Foundation.

Fragrances didn’t feature in this years awards, instead Cosmo are now launching their first annual fragrance award to honour the best in this ever-growing category.

The full list of beauty winners will be featured in the October issue of Cosmopolitan.
