Cult Beauty Founders Shortlisted for Red Hot Women Awards

Friday, October 7th, 2011

My sister Alexia Inge and her business partner Jessica DeLuca Moore have been shortlisted by Red Magazine for their Red Hot Women Awards in the Internet category. The Judging panel (pictured below) includes respected luminaries such as Sarah Brown, Lorna Clarke, Mirian Gonzalez Durantez, Anya Hindmarch MBE and Gillian Tett, ladies who know their stuff.

I am scandalously proud of them both, not only for having been proposed for this award and in such esteemed company, but for the nature of their work.

They have worked tirelessly to create a beauty sanctuary that is available to everyone, anytime, anywhere in the world. By opening the box of tricks that the Cult Beauty Expert Panel have laboured hard to learn, Lex and Jess have brought insight and honesty to our advertising-weary world. We now have a choice to either listen to marketing dictators who use fear to incite us to buy products that are modelled on Photoshopped fourteen year olds, or listen to the people on the inside with years of experience under their belts, showcasing beauty products that actually work for whatever concern you have.

There is a revolution happening – driven mostly online and by social networking – whereby consumers are understanding and focusing the power of voting with their purses. Anita Roddick of The Body Shop said “Business is the most powerful force for good, for social change and improvement in the quality of life”.

I am of course extremely biased being related to one nominee and great friends with the other, so I would like to add a little balance to this post by also mentioning some of the others shortlisted whom I think are also thoroughly deserving.

Emily Johnston – editor & creator, Fashion Foie Gras, Sarah Curran – Founder & CEO, My-wardrobe.com, Helena Morrissey – Founder, 30% Club, Jane Cunningham – editor & creator, BritishBeautyBlogger, Sarah Burton – Creative director, Alexander McQueen, Claire Watt-Smith – Founder, BoBelle…good luck! olivia inge

How to get Luminous Skin…

Monday, August 1st, 2011

Mojeh magazine recently asked me for some advice on how to Illuminate your skin without the usual pitfalls of looking a bit sweaty. The best products for this are the NuBo Peel & Reveal to prep the skin like a canvas, Dr. Perricone No Foundation Foundation, NuBo Voille, RMS Living Luminizer and of course the new Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint…see below. alexia inge

Cult Beauty in Madame Figaro, zut alors!

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Ils ont raison les Francais! The top-selling weekend supplement Madame Figaro has featured Cult Beauty in a piece about cool beauty found in London, Beautyblender and Golden Emu Oil were their stand out products from the site. As well as a lovely piece on Linda Pilkington, founder of Ormonde Jayne.

Madame Figaro is a credit to French journalism and society in general, focusing on much more intellectual themes and subjects than ‘femail-focused’ titles over here (Kerry Kantona’s latest breakdown anyone??). They profile and celebrate women made famous through achievements in the sciences and politics as well as acting and modeling and don’t flinch at putting a 40/50/60 year old on the cover without it being a themed ‘age’ issue. The Achilles heel, where is it?…you might ask…fat. Women are allowed to be anything and everything, except generously proportioned in Figaro’s world. alexia inge

Ginvera Marvel Gel – Fleur De Force’s Feb Fave

Friday, March 4th, 2011

The lovely Fleur De Force has just uploaded this super-positive review of Ginvera Marvel Gel. It’s so gratifying when well known Beauty Bloggers take up the mantle for one of our products. We’ve been championing this one for 2 years now, ever since we saw the effect it had on one of our male friends. You know the ingrained clusters of nose blackheads that men don’t seem to notice, Ginvera swiftly gets rid of them by dissolving away the plug and then cleansing the interior. Regular use minimises the openings of pores, a perfect spring clean for the face and all for £15, we have also just started selling the NuBo Cleanser she mentions. alexia inge

Guess who’s been nominated for the Cosmo Blog Awards? We have! And, just as excitingly, so has our favourite style blog, Fashion Foie Gras in the Fashion & Style category! The gorgeous Emily Johnston has been a staunch supporter of Cult Beauty since back in the day and we’re delighted to show her some love by voting for her in this prestigious category and encouraging our lovely readers to do the same. Emily’s irreverent and super-savvy take on trends and all things frivolous and fabulous has earned her many devoted readers and it’s about time she was recognised for her fashionable blogging skills.

And while you’re in the voting mood, if you fancy clicking on little ol’ us in the Etailer category we would be very grateful!

Push-for-blog

That’s right, Cult Beauty has a starring role in the first episode of Fiver’s new reality drama series, Push. The show follows the adventures of Lydia Harrison, a young freelance journalist who moves to London from Glasgow with the sole aim of making her mark in the big city.

The first episode sees Lydia moving in to her cousin Chloe’s flat in Shoreditch, bumping into a face from her past and, most excitingly, getting her first writing assignment from Cult Beauty! We’re going to be settling down with a big bowl of popcorn and a glass of bubbly to watch the premiere tonight – don’t miss it! Follow Lydia’s blog here.

Push airs tonight on Fiver at 10pm

The CB offices are awash with excitement because the founders, Jessica Moore and Alexia Inge, have been named as the 2010 stars of Management Today’s 35 Under 35 list of “High-flyers leading the recovery”.The story was then picked up by yesterday’s Sunday Times Business Section where we featured on the cover. Monday, November 9th, 2009

GMTV’s weather girl Kirsty spends a lot of her time out in the elements and with the winter season closing in it is time to start really protecting your skin. Lorraine Kelly and beauty director Vishaka Robinson have recommended that the best way to keep your lips moisturised, while still looking hot, is to use Besame lipstick (£11).

Frais Hand Sanitizer recommended on GMTV

Monday, July 13th, 2009

white-space-for-blog23frais-multiple1

Frais Hand Sanitizer holds a modern answer to a very current problem, how to help avoid contracting and/or passing on infections like Swine Flu when most of us live on top of each other in cities.

Frais was created to add a moisturising and luxurious distinction to the smart practice of regular hand sanitising. The environmentally-friendly formula of 66% pure sugarcane alcohol kills 99.9% of germs (including Influenza, The Common Cold, Tuberculosis and MRSA Staph infections) and is blended with eight essential oils which provide a natural aromatic sensation.

Dermatologist-approved, Frais is formulated with a cocktail of eight natural essential oils that includes ginger, tangerine, lemon myrtle, niaouli, orange, basil, grapefruit and cardamom. This aromatherapy blend conjures uplifting thoughts and leaves hands pleasantly moisturised, unlike most hand sanitisers which leave you with dry skin and smelling of hospitals!

See Frais recommended by Lorraine Kelly and Easy Living beauty editor Vishaka Read on GMTV below.
