Tried and Tested – Shellac nails

polishes

The very clever Teresa Smith knows a good thing when she sees it (you don’t just need a pretty face to be a Cult Beauty expert), and when she discovered Shellac, she grabbed it with two perfectly manicured paws.

Shellac is for busy women, in other words women, who love to have perfect talons and do not have the time for weekly manicures. It is a new system that is applied directly on to your own nails, in three steps. A base coat, a colour and top coat. Each phase is followed by two minutes of UV lamp drying. The manicure remains perfect for two weeks, and I mean perfect. It takes a few moments longer than a traditional manicure, but you are good to go as soon as top coat is set.

It is so clever, and so gratifying to have two weeks of perfect nails. The removal procedure is fun too, involving acetone soaked finger puppets – try it to see what I mean! No harm is done to your nails, it really only has positives. One little note, already being addressed by Shellac, is the small choice of colours- but there is a Red, Dark, Pink, French, so all preferences are covered.

Try it – you won’t go back. Salon-only treatment. Nails at Work (From £40, 07931 724404, nailsatwork.co.uk) stacia prince
